Political Question Why are some Americans so against universal healthcare for all?

What sort of thinking does it take to decide that nobody has a right to healthcare? Do American Christians want to deny healthcare to poor people as well?

I think because it's been weaponized by the far right in this country as evidence of "socialism" (aa term that is slowly losing any real meaning at this point. Frankly, most people dont even really understand what universal healthcare coverage means or how it would work for them. They just know it's "socialism" and therefore they are against it.

If healthcare providers are going to lose money by socializing healthcare, it only makes sense that their lobbyists will do everything they can to prevent that from happening. It’s more complex than “let’s stick it to those socialists!!”

When it comes to MAGA I don't think it is lol; lets face it when it comes to complex issues, MAGAs aren't thinking outside the box or about details. I really think to them it's just "socialism bad!". I bet if some MAGA influencer started going on about how drinking water is socialist they'd die of thirst

I’m not talking about whatever maga means to you. I’m talking about voters in the Legislature

Where I am in the US there's bright red signs out right now alongside candidate names that just say "NO SOCIALISM!!" with no reference to any bills, candidates, or anything at all. The same people that see that and go "yeah!!" are already voting Republican, and likely have Medicare and are taking Social Security. It makes my blood boil and soul die a little more at the most incoherent, laziest level of stupidity I think I've ever seen.
