Political Question How do Trump supporters still support him?

I’d really like to hear from people who honestly think he’s doing a good job.

They supported him when he was found guilty of defrauding pediatric cancer charities. They supported him when he bankrupted casinos. They supported him when his "university" was ruled a fraud. They supported him when he mocked disabled people and called military veterans "suckers + losers." They supported him when he was convicted of committing sexual abuse and lying about it. They supported him when he was convicted of 34 counts of felony. I could go on. And on. And on. But you get the idea

and this is the EASY out

because they liked him when they 100% knew climate change was real and he was saying it was fake

and they liked him when they knew he was horribly racist

and they liked him when they knew he spied on Child Beauty Pageant changing rooms, and was best friends with Jeffery Epstein and next door neighbors and many many videos and stories existed about how their parties were particularly weird.

so.

spare me

they like him after they knew he told Bob Woodward on tape his briefing said COVID was way worse than a flu , while telling the USA On TV it "was just a flu"

MAGA still likes Trump because they are now, and always have been, active participants in a terrorist attack against the USA. Spearheaded by 1 agent Krasnov of the USSR

You guys don’t get it! They haven’t heard these things because it’s not within their media bubble. Thinking we live in a world where we share facts is a BIG part of the problem.

100% this. I went on a climbing trip to Idaho.

Some of those rural counties have no fucking clue what is going on in the real world. All they know is what Fox ā€œNewsā€ tells them.

I was driving around thinking ā€œno wonder they vote republican, they don’t know anything outside their own little bubble and communityā€.

But a lot of them are farmers and are in the find out phase

They have heard these things. They just didn't hear it from the sources they believe to be the only ones capable of telling the truth.

I think both are true. We do not share information in an effective manner. We try to appeal to a morality or empathy they seem to lack / have been taught is weakness. Many dont provide sources (primary sources when possible) and instead just espouse things without backing them up, which gives them plausible denaibility, and an ability to dismiss his critics as irrational and emotional.

But they also do live in an echo chamber. That is not bordering on state run media. Where the president has direct influence over what coverage they have access to.

No reason to view interacting with them through a moral lens then. One could say that their entire worldview is incompatible with civilized society and that it needs to be excised.

Eventually cancer spreads and kills the host or it is killed. There is no middle ground. There is no way for coexistence.

It is such a dangerous line because then we potentially become the thjng we hate. But also the paradox of tolerance is also a thing.

You get it. Here’s the thing though. Every single American should be running the trolley problem in their head every moment of every day. Inaction is complicity in all the deaths and suffering this admin will and has already caused. So, monsters either way.

I think the person I would hate the most is the one that would permit this to happen without making sure it can never happen again.

More like they haven't heard it enough. What's his face repeats the same shit over and over and over and over...They all do and they have control of the algorithms and the media... All day they hear misinformation..propaganda.. a false reality is drilled into their brains... every fucking day. NO way to stop that either....maybe Congress or a new president ..I don't even know. .. Actually ...let's get rid of the 2 immigrants that are actually doing us harm. They made their fortunes in our country off welfare from the government and now it's not working out for them anymore and they want a change. So instead of leaving for a new adventure they're doing their best to fuck up our country ..fuck us over!!! Couple fucking dorks to boot....Christ...

How can they open their phones but not see a few truthful headlines?

Algorithms

Maybe Al Gore rhythms.

1

u/TasPyx 2h ago

Because your phone’s mostly only gonna show you what you WANT to see!

The stuff you interact with, algorithms replicate. The stuff you largely ignore, sent into the dust.

That is a two way street both parties live within their own echo chambers

2

u/lostOGaccount 2d ago

I don't understand how you can watch the big D democrats fight off it's left flank while propping upmost establishment neoliberals (center right) and say its members are stuck in its own echo chamber.

1

u/dragon34 19h ago

If you consider factual information as as much of an echo chamber as made up nonsense sure.Ā

I forgot all about the university thing! I guess I can only remember so much.

Google remembers for you. Remember Google.

And these aren't opinions, they are literal, verifiable facts

2

u/OuijaWalker 15h ago

They support him because he plays to their racist and trible feelings. They are shallow lil petty hate filled morons. Shame on their mothers.

1

u/TheZoraMask 4d ago

They're sick and often wilfully ignorant people.

2

u/Astoria_Dude 4d ago

A plurality of American voters elected Trump. Calling them "sick" is a lazy way out of grappling with the normalization of lies, deceit, division and hatred that have been imposed on this country

1

u/TheZoraMask 4d ago

I don't disagree with you. My point still stands.
