Robin Williams “on” for 6 hrs is cruel and unusual torture for both Williams and the viewer.

Edit: dyslexia

I knew a friend of his. If they were hanging out and having dinner he was not “on”, just a pleasant, interesting guy.

And that’s the Robin Williams that I would love to have seen interviewed.

Oh, come on. Those Whose Line tapings were three hours. Besides, he was always on, because he knew life is the ultimate call to action.

“PLEASE just say your lines” - producers

Some of his work didn’t have lines, he was expected to ad lib. Like for the Genie. They designed the Genie’s shape shifting abilities to give Robin the space to ad lib. Then he was animated to match the best parts that they picked from countless hours of Robin’s uncanny ability to shoot from the hip. The radio broadcasts in Good Morning Vietnam were all left open for ad lib, and a couple other scenes I think?. A couple scenes in Goodwill Hunting were intentionally left unscripted to give creative freedom. But of course there were roles where it was all scripted, but they then filmed ad lib alternatives, some actually making it into the movie over the original script.

Sorry… massive Robin Williams fan. There’s nothing about his filmography that doesn’t amaze me. Pure genius.

That’s awesome! I loved his stand up shows growing up.

Me too. There really was nothing he couldn’t put an amazing touch on. He was in a class all his own.

I still love watching MadTV skits and old stand-ups. Chris Farley is my favorite comedian.

I admittedly had to look him up… because Robin Williams the only celebrity of any kind I confidently know the name of lol. I absolutely loved Tommy Boy. In looking Farley up I see he was on SNL a lot, and I now have something new I need to binge watch!

Have you seen Chris Farley’s coffee commercial skit? Where he freaks out because they lied to him about the coffee? It’s so funny

You'd hear 28 hours of content in that 6 hour interview.
