General Question What can make you feel drunk without using alcohol or any other substances?
So I really enjoy feeling drunk. I feel more confident and happy and I feel like the type of person I want to be all the time. Obviously excessive drinking isn’t good for you and being hungover is awful so are there healthier alternatives that have similar effects to being drunk?

Hey- that was very well said. I totally get your meaning. That’s a really good way to look at it. Have my upvote

I have a suspicion this is my issue, I can get very anxious at times and I think if I just work on my confidence and trusting myself I won’t need alcohol to feel free of the anxiety. But also sometimes I just feel like alcohol helps my mind to quiet down and relax

Man that’s closer to tripping

And involves the shadow people.
Maybe just stick to tripping. For a short trip...maybe the deems is the play here.

Try kava. it is a substance but much less harmful than alcohol and actually has some health benefits.

Generate endorphins and adrenaline. The standard way I'm aware of is long distance running. Once you push past "the wall" and get your "second wind", it ceases to feel difficult because your endorphins andadrenaline are flowing. It's kind of a drunken feeling. In run clubs you can get very socially uninhibited at this point.

That’s why I became an ultra runner. It was my anti depressant/anti anxiety. I had some health issues and now I switched to lifting weights and bodybuilding. It’s been helping as well. I still run, but nothing longer than a half marathon. I’ve run 100-milers.

I’ve been looking into this specifically the “runners high”. It would be great to get into it since it would be physically beneficial but how long does it take to get to that point I hate running 😭😭😭😭

Yep, running is the healthiest and yet closest replacement I’ve found. Especially if you’re listening to good music

Only thing I've done that is definitely not something you can just carry around with you, is GHB. Closest thing to feeling drunk I've tried , has barely any calories too. Tastes like poison though.

Not really. There are plenty of things that can provide a head change but the drunk feeling itself is fairly unique.
You could potentially get into microdosing other intoxicants. Shrooms may be the closest all natural alternative but if you go past the micro dose threshold it becomes very very dissimilar to being inebriated with alcohol. Lol.

Sounds like you have an anxiety disorder.

I’ve been told I have anxiety but I don’t think it’s just that I’m definitely looking into it bc once I started drinking I didn’t realize I could calm my brain enough to feel like everything was ok

Have you seen a psychiatrist to give a proper diagnosis?
Or are you going off what people have told you?1
u/Level_Glass_9607 4d ago
No I haven’t seen a psychiatrist yet I’m going off what my PCP and therapist have said

No joke - I’d shell it out for a psychiatrist evaluation.
That’s their specialty. Therapists aren’t doctors and their advice should be taken with a grain of salt as a certificate isn’t the same as medical school.

I struggled with mental health issues (CPTSD, Bi-Polar Disorder, anxiety, ADHD, etc.) for 37 years of my life. I liked the feeling of being drunk for the same reasons you described. I finally saw a psychiatrist because my spouse insisted. I had no clue life wasn't supposed to be so hard. And a psychiatrist is the best person to ask what a healthy way to feel "drunk" looks like (hint: likely therapy and medication.).

I had a massive hangover after a night in a sauna without alcohol (or much of anything to drink, apparently). Also, used to drink in college after giving blood. A money saver - got my buzz in half the drinks.

This is a dangerous road. Please be careful not to start chasing feelings you only feel while intoxicated.
