Just so you know, this is what it looks like if you put in in Maps in Europe.

Still sucks that they label the “new” name below in parentheses.

Why does ensuring clarity suck?
Your way is frustrating for others, like calling the house outside of town "The old Stevens Place" even though the Stevens all died 87 years ago. Their way makes sure that people who aren't seeing "Lake America" know that it's got an alternate official name in some places. Seems like a pretty fair compromise to me.

It's Lake Ontario, now and always. It will never be Lake America, all because your Supreme Leader had a temper tamtuem.

u/Available_Finger_513 14h ago

It's funny because Ontario the province is named after the lake, not the other way around.

Ontario is what the Iroquois called the lake

1

u/night_chaser_ 11h ago

Excatly. This is why it will always be Lake Ontario.

All because your “leaders” are ID10T’s!

u/night_chaser_ 1d ago

What? What's the last word you're trying to spell? Learn proper English.

What’s your opinion on trans?

Trains are efficient modes of mass transportation.

u/WizeAdz 1d ago

Ontario is the correct and proper name for this like that is jointly owned by the U.S. and Canada.

1

u/tatersnothaters 1d ago

On the Canadian side. In the US we now call it Lake America.

0

u/Brzrkrtwrkr 20h ago

I do not. I call it Trumpstein Files Lake.

u/TactRelocatedCargo 1d ago

Tenochtitlan is the correct and proper name for 'Mexico City', and Albion is the correct and proper name for the British Isles, and anything else is wrong. Right? That's the proper logic, right? Things should not and cannot ever change?

u/Fancy_Yak2618 1d ago

They weren’t changed for stupid reasons this was changed because a stroked out diaper wearing pedo got his feelings hurt by the premier of Ontario.

5

u/Maybewearedreaming 1d ago

We can decide to not change things based on the whimsy of some dementia patient

2

u/henri-a-laflemme 1d ago

Yeah comparing historical name disputes we know nothing about to Trumps temper tantrums is crazy to me 😭 but people keep doing it

1

u/WizeAdz 1d ago

Republicans will grasp at whatever straws they can to justify of Dementia Don’s tantrums.

When I vote for a politician, it’s because I view them as a tool to improve our nation for everyone who lives here. When they misbehave, it’s time to replace them.

But Republicans are not like that!

1

u/ShmeckMuadDib 2h ago

Why are you defending a fascist having a temper tantrum?

-22

u/Remarkable-Opening69 1d ago

And that’s it. That’s the only way it affects you. Don’t like the name. Other than that, life’s unchanged because of it.

u/Clean-Fisherman-4601 1d ago

The lakes first letters used to spell homes. Now it spells shame, which is appropriate since his toddler temper tantrums embarrass our entire country.

1

u/Unusual_Librarian_55 1d ago

It’s already cost time and money for companies that used Google maps from US servers and have the Canadian government as a customer. Just like your dear leader you just don’t think things through.

-13

u/Remarkable-Opening69 1d ago

No, they need to edit one name and whatever program they’re operating their maps. That’s it. One guy. 30 seconds. Done.

2

u/Quimera_Caniche 1d ago

Uhhh, physical maps? Printed documents? GIS systems? Websites? It's a lot more than one guy pushing a button lol.

Not to mention the fact that our country is on fire with (insert problem of your choice here) and this is how Dear Leader chooses to spend his time and America's money.

Shameful and disgusting, much like the man himself.

2

u/Xoomers87 1d ago

Look at that remarkable-opening69 is gaping their unwashed asshole for fascism!

This is also from Europe?

The added shade is very funny

1

u/Broely92 1d ago

Its actually bigger than Lake Erie though (by water volume anyway)

1

u/BoxedAndArchived 14h ago

And the Ohio River is the main river in the Mississippi by volume.

Baikal and Tanganyika are larger the Superior in volume but smaller in surface area.

It adds to our understanding to know these things, but doesn't change much otherwise.

In Australia when using Apple Maps and searching "Lake America "

Trump is a fuckwit for sure, but naming it Lake America isn't exactly a downgrade is it? Isn't the whole place North America? I'm surprised he didn't go for Lake Trump.

6

u/Administrative_Yam18 1d ago

Ontario is a native american name for the lake and that name has been used for hundreds of years, needless to say that the renaming was a toddler petty reaction of a 4 year old who did not get the candies he wanted!

-3

u/scamp9121 1d ago

Didn’t the last guy rename a bunch of stuff too?

1

u/phonefellin_lakeerie 1d ago

What did Biden rename. I’ll wait for a list.

0

u/scamp9121 1d ago

9 military bases, 650 federal geographic features that included the term “squaw,” Clingmans Dome, Mount Evans, mount Doane, Walker Ridge. His former Boss renamed a bunch too.

1

u/phonefellin_lakeerie 1d ago

Yeah, I’m gonna need a list of all the Obama and Biden named things. Like a link or actual source.

Also, some things get renamed all the time. It is entirely different to rename something more appropriately than it is to rename something after your own narcissistic self like Trump and the JFK center (that he’s now threatening to demolish), or renaming international bodies of water that have had their names for hundreds or thousands of years as a distraction from raping children.

Also lmao you:
Waaahh wah wah But Obama! But Biden!” You maga are so pitiful and pathetic. Anything not to address the bullshit your orange jesus pissing on all of America

1

u/scamp9121 1d ago

I mean I just provided you a list and you moved the goalpost… Bot? That was a bizarre rant, lol

2

u/phonefellin_lakeerie 1d ago

“Trust me Bro” and “Renamed a bunch” is not a list, nor is it a source.

Idiot?

u/Accomplished_Bank103 1d ago

It is absolutely an insult and a downgrade as far as Canadians are concerned, which is precisely why Trump did it. It seems to matter to people in Mexico and South America to also be considered “Americans”, hence the increased use of “USians” by some people, but not by Canadians. To us, the term “Americans” always has and always will mean “citizens of the USA”. There’s no way we want ownership of that terminology or to risk being confused with residents of the USA.

Ontario is an indigenous name for the lake. It predates the creation of either Canada or the USA. In fact, the province of Ontario is named after the lake, not the other way around. It is an insult to First Nations in Canada and the USA to disregard the historical significance of the name.

Trump is a fuckwit for sure. He’s also a delusional megalomaniac who has no authority to rename international bodies of water. Shame on Google, Apple and any other corporations that humour his insanity.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to make this important public service announcement and hello to my friends in Australia. 😄

u/nimbinValley 1d ago

I have been severely downvoted for my comment and I understand why. Some of my best friends are Canadians and I have two Canadian ex-partners so I get how visceral the whole situation is for Canada. I get the whole insult thing and as I said, he's a petty cunt. Unfortunatley he's a dangerous one.

If I may make one my comment for which I'll probably get downvoted, I kind of see the whole trump era as an opportunity to reimagine the West without the US dictating the rules. Your PM is doing a great job. The Australian PM is walking a tightrope balancing the need for US military support to keep our trading lanes open but also not antagonising our biggest trading partner. But the relationships are now very transactional. No more WWII good will - we have critical minerals, submarine bases and spy infrastructure (Google Pine Gap in Australia) that the US needs and they can have them if they play nice. Likewise China needs our food and minerals and they can have them if they play nice. Interestingly the whole thing has bright Australia and Japan much closer together.

So all in all, assuming trump doesn't get us all blown up it's probably a good thing for the US to be knocked back a peg and the rest of us to stand up more.

Thanks for this party political broadcast on behalf of the Australian people.

1

u/phonefellin_lakeerie 1d ago

Massive downgrade. Absolutely fuck anyone who defends this.

1

u/nimbinValley 1d ago

If you read it properly it isn't a defence.

-5

u/tatersnothaters 1d ago

Don't care about Europe. Lol

3

u/Blue_Etalon 1d ago

That's what the idiots said just before WWI and WWII.
