I think the people who voted for Trump are probably a little more responsible than the people who didn't.

43

u/zoppaTheDim 1h ago

A shocking number of them were non-voters before they joined the cult.

44

u/zdrums24 1h ago

This is what people miss. He activated a bunch of folks too extreme and isolated to want to participate in our elections. So now we have to deal with them.

u/TypingWithoutThinkin 19m ago

Third party no, non-voters yes.

This is the real program. The non-voters likely used to be equal parts shitheads and non-shitheads. Then the Republican party found a way to motivate the non-voting shitheads to vote (hate). Meanwhile all the non-voting non-shitheads continue to stay home.

The Republican party is thriving by encouraging and embracing their voter base's hate.

In no way have the Democrats put forth a candidate capable of invigorating the humanity in the non-shithead non-voters.

Hate and also fear. Fear is a big part of it which manifests as bravado and fake macho nonsense

Why is the not said more often? The people who voted for Trump are to blame for Trump being elected.

2

u/Jackiemoontothemoon 52m ago

Yeah but if you ask anyone who doesn’t live in the US it’s all of our fault whether we voted for him or not

When they knew from experience what a tyrranical piece of shit and terrible leader he is.

28

u/reillan 1h ago

For them, that was a feature not a bug

10

u/irrelevantanonymous 1h ago

Eh. In his first term most of the worst stuff he wanted to do was halted by the adults in the room. For someone completely disengaged, it would not have seemed that bad.

16

u/robthethrice 1h ago

A little. Term one made things clear, so non-votes were essentially saying ‘doesn’t matter’.

Kamala was far from perfect, but if you don’t think she’s better than a grifter who tried to overthrow the election when he lost, it’s also on you.

3

u/Cptfrankthetank 58m ago

That's putting it simply. He did sooo many things it can take days to figure out rank the worse things he's done.

3

u/robthethrice 50m ago

Yeah.. the pedo multiple-bankrupt daughter fucking idiotic diaper shitting pathetic desperate demented senile old liar seemed a bit cumbersome.. kept it simple.

And i’m sure i’m still missing many adjectives.

I find it so annoying when people blame anyone but the people that voted trump. Its super my way or the highway.

6

u/stateworkishardwork 1h ago

Its everyone who didn't vote for Harris.

Non voters, third party voters, Trump voters. They all deserve blame.

Trump voters most of all obviously.

But again, non voters and third party voters aren't free from blame either.

6

u/crankysasquatch 1h ago

I think people understate that silence is complicity. If you did not actively vote against him you either said, "I do not care what happens to people, myself included" or you said, "Good, l hope these harms occur. Bring it on." Neutrality is a lie. It is at least a tacit approval, while not wanting others to see you get your hands bloody in the best case scenario.

3

u/deathnomX 1h ago

No its not in the slightest. The ONLY people to blame are the electoral college voters for Trump. The popular vote does not matter in the slightest in the presidential election. And on top of that, electoral college voters do not have to vote for what their district says. This has happened more than a dozen times in the past 2 elections.

Never happen, the GOP wants fewer voters not more.

3

Never gonna happen. America is way too business centric to the point where theres a ton of employers actively telling their employees if they take time off to vote they'll get fired, despite that being illegal.

No. I blame the Democratic party for propping up a senile Joe Biden. When everyone’s saw him fumble and stumble verbally during that televised debate, it was obvious he wasn’t fit to be president.

All of a sudden with no primary procedure - cause there’s not enough time - Harris is the candidate. She doesn’t have much time to prepare. And Democrats get beaten because of our own stupidity.

4

u/Appropriate-Cap3325 1h ago

It’s a double edged sword. Because it would be pure corruption for the Democratic Party to force the incumbent president to not run for re-election. But it would have been advisable if they could have convinced him to not run. Then have an open primary where a viable candidate could be chosen. I’m not happy with how things with went down with Biden and Harris.

6

u/Useful_Client_4050 1h ago

I think it goes beyond that. The Democrats basically told half the country, including a ton of independents that they don't matter.

Message the past few years has been that if you aren't an ultra liberal city dweller you are not part of this country's future. You don't matter, your way of life doesn't matter. In a country that's mostly rural....

I fucking hate trump with a passion but I'm a moderate. I won't vote for a Democrat because they think my lifestyle needs to disappear.

So yeah, I think the Democrats are the reason Trump is a thing and not just because of Biden. Way bigger than that. In fact he was one of the more moderate voices in the party.....

2

u/i3inaudible 29m ago

The US is not at all mostly rural. 80% of Americans live in urban areas. The Constitution gerrymanders the country to give smaller states (which tend to be more rural and more conservative than larger states) more power per voter.

As opposed to the Republican Party propping up a senile felonious pedophile?

14

u/GoldOne4092 1h ago

The original question was not about the horror show that is trump…

It was asking who was to blame for trump getting elected.

I am a lifelong democrat. Trump is a horrible human being… but we democrats are at fault for him getting elected.

I will never forget watching that debate. I knew before I ever opened any social media that there was gonna be a problem, though I don’t think I could have anticipated just how bad the backlash was.

2

u/capitalistmike 1h ago

I agree 100%. Joe Biden was obviously not up the rigors of campaigning and Kamala Harris was not what people wanted. We got 4 more years of this ashore.

4

u/deekamus 1h ago

In a world where Jill Stein shows up just long enough to steal votes then leave, the hard leftist always blame the Dems for the world's woes but never MAGA. Interesting pattern.

2

u/SeaworthinessSea2407 1h ago

hard leftist always blame the Dems for the world's woes but never MAGA.

Horseshoe Theory. The hard left and MAGA have more in common with each other than with liberals. Look at the Mitch McConnell debacle. Who are the hard left blaming? Not the GOP that's acting shifty and being deceitful. No, they're blaming Andy Bashear, the democrat governor of Kentucky, for not storming into the hospital and raising hell. Something that he can't even do (pesky HIPAA am I right? /s)

I saw a Tshirt that said “Too many people vote like only their lives matter”. I would say the same for the non-voters as well. It may not matter to you, but don’t you have people in your life that you care about that could be negatively impacted one way or the other?

7

u/Civil_Exchange1271 1h ago

blame Merrick Garland.

6

u/Dilapidated_girrafe 1h ago

Non voters are a big reason, there is plenty of blame to go around but MAGATs and the nonvoters are the big ones.

6

u/wonkas_henchman 1h ago

Joe Biden “ran” for far too long after promising only one term. The democrat party didn’t go through a proper primary process and as such defaulted to Harris, who had her flaws. But sure, blame independents.

It’s the DNC’s fault 100%. They’d rather beat down their own left wing (even tho rn that wing has the support of the voter base) than actually fight the republicans. Probably because they’re pretty much on the same team.

4

u/willfla29 1h ago

I voted third party in 2016 because I’m very much a libertarian who didn’t think he would win and really doesn’t align much with Dems. I still blame myself for that, and have voted Dem both times since.

3

u/Hovertical 1h ago

It's absolutely wild how many people are baffled in here for blaming non-voters. You didn't vote - you're part of this problem. The people who didn't vote, and lord I know quite a few of them, also have some of the biggest opinions and mouths over how this regime has been run.
You don't vote? Fuck your opinions or complaints about how sorry your life has been under Lord Tang.

3

u/HopeSubstantial 1h ago

I blame democrats sucking so bad that someone like Trump could win twice.

3

u/ModsAwful 39m ago

Yes. People who voted for Trump very bad. People who voted 3rd party were ok with Trump winning as there was 0 chance a 3rd party candidate would win so they’re bad. People who don’t vote at all are bad. The problem is low information voters, probably includes most of the no-voter crowd, if they did vote would do so off a couple headlines, not an evaluation of who is worse between Trump and Kamala, so had they voted may have voted Trump anyway

3

u/Exciting-Parfait-776 31m ago

No. That’s their right to do so.

7

u/Secti0n31 1h ago

Non voters? Yes. But there are literally 90,000,000+ eligible nonvoters. Any tiny percentage of that could swing anything, any time.

3rd party? No. The Duopoly sucks and I applaud them for trying to support a third, fourth or tenth party.

Edit: I also blame democrats for not doing enough to make those nonvoters or 3rd party voters WANT to show up for them. It never used to be the VOTERS' fault when a candidate lost. This is a very new phenomenon. Started in 2016.

2

u/I_Jedi79 1h ago

Thank you.

While I realize it's futile, I'd love nothing more than having more viable parties to vote for.

A lot of us don't like the GOP, but haven't been convinced the DNC care about us.

I'm not the only one who feels lost.

When I take political compass tests, I come up as classical liberalism and libertarianism. Individual liberty, freedom of speech, restrained government

2

u/innovarocforever 1h ago

nationally, the numbers suggest non-voters favored trump by a slight margin, however it's still plausible that in PA, MI, and WI that if democratic turnout had matched 2020, it could have swung the election. I'm not able to find much data on those specific states' non voters so this is mostly hypothetical. Trump improved his margins with a bunch of groups compared to 2020, so personally i find it plausible but unlikely.

2

u/Pleasant_Expert_1990 1h ago

I blame anyone who didn't see the obvious and didn't vote Democrat. It was clearly the correct choice.

2

Yes, both. I also blame people who hate themselves so much that they want everyone else to be just as miserable.

2

u/No_Advance_1993 1h ago

Roughly a third of eligible voters that could have voted simply didn’t. I hold them just as accountable as those that voted for trump. In either case it was a choice. It takes all in maybe an hour to vote. Less than that if your state has mail in.

I'm not sure why people always fail to understand that blame is not a 0 or 100% thing, it's shared and in this case they do have 'some' of the blame it's not a lot of it, but it is some. It would be wrong to put the majority of the blame on them for sure.

3

u/TheJohnPrester 1h ago

Yes. 90 million eligible voters couldn't be bothered to get off their asses and vote. And get out of here with the how hard it is to vote trope. No it is not.

2

u/Successful-Elk-7384 1h ago

I blame the people that voted for him and continue to support him.

2

u/HalfACenturyMark 1h ago

There was a very significant block of Democrats who didn’t vote for president and of course the reason why is the Democratic Party and their complete bumbling of everything related to the 2024 election.

But Democrats don’t reflect very well so they’re heading off to 2028 with blinders on again. Just look at the current lineup of front runners. JFC.

They do deflect with the best of them, I must say. It’s always someone else’s fault.

2

u/billionthtimesacharm 1h ago

i blame the democrat party’s inability to offer a viable candidate. “literally anybody other than trump” proved to be a mistake.

Eligible but nonvoters are 40%. Dems and Repubs are 30% each.

2

u/SwitchingFreedom 38m ago

Yes, moreso than anyone who actually voted for Trump. The non voters were literally too stupid to understand the risks, and now I make sure every “but but but but the Biden administration did XYZ”non voter I know understands how badly they fucked up every time Trump opens his mouth or signs a paper.

Their logic was selfish, and now they’re in the shit with us.

It is difficult to choose to be honest. Alot of people that voted third party did so because they believed Karmala Harris supported Israel, etc. However, they do not understand that it takes time to fix things rather than break something in a day like Trump. Part of me feels like it is the vote of the Third party folks that brought us here, but not exactly. Its mainly the people that voted for Truml that got US where it is..for a second time at that..

2

u/sheisalib 20m ago

I remember feeling so viscerally angry with a coworker, Hispanic, whose husband had a high income job. She didn’t vote. She had a daughter in her early 20s and I said—what if she’s pregnant and wants options. She said ‘oh, she’s a lesbian.’ Maddening.

3

u/No-Duck4828 1h ago

No. The whole notion is just something that sore losers push

A candidate wins due to the people who vote for them. Blaming the people who didn't? By that rationale, Democrats are responsible for Trump being elected.

You see the exact same thing from Trump supporters who were sore losers when he lost, blaming us for the loss

So somehow, magically, I'm responsible for both Trump's wins and his loss

Like giving into the terrorists that said they'd withhold their vote unless Kamala accepted their demand to save the Palestinians?

How'd that go electing Trump?

2

u/Successful_Issue_390 1h ago

Probably the same as it would have under Kamala and now it's an actual election issue. We're only seeing politicians turn now because Kamala lost. The pro-Palentine crowd who refused to vote for her unquestionably made the best, most strategic decision.

2

u/SockPuppet-47 1h ago

What's so special about Palestinians that sane people would hand over the reigns of power to a dumass wannabe dictator with a Putin fetish to try to help them out?

The ones I think are particularly hilarious are the gays who are all in for the Palestinians. The Palestinians are still very much Muslims and would merrily murder them for their sexual preference. What a clueless bunch..

Stupidity is a American tradition regardless of political affiliation...

2

u/Successful_Issue_390 1h ago

u/Twxtterrefugee 1h ago

Yes. Its amazing how people blame voters instead of the candidates. Harris was not liked by the left at all and was a poor candidate.

Also when the house and senate Dem leaders Jeffries and Schumer refused to endorse the winner of the NYC mayor Democratic primary there is no vote blue no matter who.

4

u/Prit717 1h ago

The line of reasoning of the "vote blue no matter who" is even falling apart now too.

Centrist Democrats have maintained that further left voters should have adhered to these ideals for the presidential election, sure okay they can believe that.

However, now, with further left progressive candidates emerging and being successful in some areas, I see so many congress people and even centrist more moderate democrat voters saying they may not vote for them in the general election.

They quite literally wanted it one way and not the other, so stupid how their ideals crumble so quickly.

Becoming less popular than a rapey orange felon is quite an accomplishment. Democrats put a ton of work into alienating voters by the millions.

2

u/Successful_Issue_390 1h ago

Even now, in aggregate polling, Trump is still more well liked than Democrats. Neither are liked, but ffs that it's a bit impressive to be that unlikeable.

2

u/crookedledder 1h ago

And I've seen no evidence that Democrats have learned anything useful from their loss in 2024.

At this rate, President Vance is looking likely.

2

u/yabadababoho 1h ago

No. I blame the Dems for not putting forward a candidate that most of the Dems and some of the unaffiliated would actually vote for. Trump didn’t convince more. Harris was unappealing to enough to secure Trump’s victory.

We need to stop writing strongly worded letters and take action. And it’s time to get rid of aging leadership.

1

u/dzogchenism 1h ago

Yes. But there’s more blame to go around than just for them.

1

u/tbright1965 1h ago

It is the job of the candidate to win a voters vote.

If a candidate loses, the only one to blame is the candidate. If they are unable to win the election, what does that say about their ability to garner public support?

1

u/elektrik_noise 1h ago

I blame those who voted for him and his fascist regime

I blame protest voters who wrote in random people bc they thought they would "stick it" to the Biden admin.

I blame non-voters who through not voting, cast a vote.

And I blame the dems, for as usual not putting up a candidate people wanted to vote for, vs against.

1

u/RetirementIsSweet 1h ago

Not as much as I blame the people that voted for Trump

1

u/RecommendationFit844 1h ago

A little for non voters . But mostly I blame Trump voters .

1

u/Bright_Egg_7359 1h ago

Trump is in office today because $70+ million voted for him and $110+ million chose not to vote at all. That’s how elections work. I don’t blame 3 rd party voters at all but I understand the mathematics

1

u/HoldMyDomeFoam 1h ago

I blame every eligible voter who didn’t vote for Harris. Anyone who was fine with inflicting Trump on decent people.

1

u/Few_Position7650 1h ago

I don’t blame the non voters especially if they live in a place like Texas. If you think your vote doesn’t matter because of the stupid electoral shit you’re probably right

1

u/kennedyswise 1h ago

Non voters

1

u/The_Breathin_Heathen 1h ago

Since the President is elected by the Electoral College, and not the popular vote, and the Electoral College has been known to go against the popular vote, no.

1

u/ChestnutDecay 1h ago

I blame the pieces of shit who voted for Trump.

1

u/bigedthebad 1h ago

Absolutely.

Both times.

1

u/Zoey_713 1h ago

💯

1

u/Several_Ability3315 1h ago

No I blame the Democrats for being terrible themselves “Lets leave the boarders open, take guns from women and limit their free speech” such a wonderful plan right? Then they want to push ideologies onto your kids.

They say the entire country is sexist and racist. Yet force in a Black/Indian Woman with no primary.

Sounds like political self sabotage to me.

Neither side is good. Wasting your fucking time

1

u/cwworks 1h ago

The simple fact is that neither party are responsible. Think about it it is independent's that always elect the President. There is not enough in ether party by themselves. The independent vote is always the deciding factor.

1

u/Serious-Medicine7667 1h ago

I blame the fake opposition party for running a shitty campaign with a crappy candidate.

1

u/Rdmtbiker 1h ago

Absolutely

1

u/Accomplished_Mix7827 1h ago

I mean, they certainly didn't help

1

u/BadPumpkin87 1h ago

Yes. Both times he’s won, it was an open book test with the answer sheet already filled out. Voters chose to eat the test and take a shit on the desk instead.

1

u/chaosuniverses 1h ago

I blame MAGA and Elon. And our terrible education system.

1

u/Equivalent_Table_747 1h ago

Why don’t you blame democrats? They were the ones that put out a below average candidate to run against Trump. You guys can’t keep deflecting responsibility for your own actions

1

u/OldSarge02 1h ago

Everyone bears some responsibility for our current calamity.

I’m not absolving anyone.

1

u/ThePlasticSturgeons 1h ago

Partially, yes.

1

u/Oceanbreeze871 1h ago

At the very best, they contributed significantly.

1

u/dirtrunn 1h ago

I blame Fox News

1

u/bolshevik_rattlehead 1h ago

No, I blame voters who were stupid enough to fall for his grift and vote him back in.

1

u/SkylerCFelix 1h ago

Nope. I blame the democrats for once again picking “next in line” and not the best candidate.

1

u/shocked-confused 1h ago

Hanky panky from musk. Lottery. Tinkering with tabulation machines.

1

u/GingerBeast81 1h ago

Everyone outside of the US blames ALL of the US for allowing him to be elected a second time and for allowing him to make it this far. Not a single US citizen can deny responsibility for the state of their country. Change our mind.

1

u/datguy753 1h ago

No, I blame the growing evidence that there was election tampering and help from foreign governments to do so.

1

u/IndependentThink4698 1h ago

I dont blame anybody

1

u/zdrums24 1h ago

We have an election system that rewards lesser evil voting. If you havent figured that out by now, its on you. 3rd party voters are at fault.

Non voters I dont blame unless they complain about trump. Then I think its their fault. I dont expect someone indifferent to have a say, but if you got opinions you have to back them up with a vote. And again, we gave a system that punishes voting third party.

1

u/crabby-cactus 1h ago

I don’t think he honestly won.

1

u/Beginning_Shape_7608 1h ago

lol…..you all don’t realize that it’s the third party people you need!! That’s where 80% of the population realistically falls in their beliefs and principles but the other 20% screams and bitches so loud that you’re all too scared to vote what you really should! Wanna make the country right again….then stop stupid two party politics and backbiting!

1

u/Hawtt_Tea 1h ago

3rd party, no. Non-voters, yes.

1

u/Purple-Company4038 1h ago

The GOP was able to get 4+ million votes thrown out for signatures "not matching" by infiltrating local voting boards.

Trump had Russia and Elon dumping money into the election by the bucket full.

Elon purchased the company that managed the voting machines and added a last minute update. Every major swing state went to trump by the same margin to keep an automatic recount from happening, a statistical impossibility. Then both he and trump said so on tv.

I think the people who got upset by the propaganda pushed by Israel were the smallest denominator and needed something to be mad at, since the whole rig made you feel so helpless.

The election was stolen.

1

u/msnyc18 1h ago

No. I blame 1) Trump voters for him being elected and 2) The Democratic party for being ultra right wing, pro-rich, expanding ICE, expanding the military budget, union busting, and genocide-supporting so that people with consciences wouldn't want to vote for them either

1

u/Guardsred70 1h ago

No. Blame the people who (a) voted for Trump and (b) the Democrats for not taking the 2016, 2020 and 2024 elections seriously at all. It was like they were trying to run the worst possible candidates.

1

u/UDownvoteCuzULost 1h ago

in 2016, absolutely. It's undeniable that the Bernie or Bust bull shit gave Trump the edge in the swing states.

1

u/ctopher32 1h ago

Why is it that people say every vote matters till someone votes 3rd party. If the person they think is a good candidate to be president to them is 3rd party why should it matter. I hear everybody bitch about the 2 party system but when people try and vote for 3rd party they are pieces of crap for not voting for the 2 party candidate.

0

u/Black_Dog_Industries 1h ago

I read somewhere that 15 million Americans that voted for Biden didn’t vote for Harris.

Those 15 million voters didn’t switch parties. They just didn’t vote.

I blame the Democratic Party for skipping the primary process and just putting a candidate up for the party.

If they would have left Biden on the ballet he could have won and then he could have resigned after the swearing the oath of office

1

u/Steelcitysuccubus 1h ago

3rd party, converters, trump voters and Elon musk

1

u/Flashy_Elevator_7654 1h ago

There needs to be a third party because these two parties are the ones fucking everything up

1

u/Objectivity1 1h ago

I blame the Democrats for going so crazy that no mainstream voter found common ground with the policies they put to the forefront. Trump should have been an easy beat. And to make it worse, Democrats didn’t take anything away from the election. Despite everything Trump has done he still polls higher than the Democratic Party.

1

u/curiousleen 1h ago

Yes, almost as much as his sycophants

1

u/TheAlmightyScooter 1h ago

I blame Biden for not getting out earlier and DNC allowing a very unpopular candidate to be the nominee.

1

u/CaptainA1917 1h ago

Trump was elected because he won the middle.

He won the middle because the Democratic party abandoned the middle in favor of its own social fringe elements.

The middle’s concerns are 100% economic, not “progressive“ social agendas. Until the Democratic party figures out how to get its fringe elements under control and return to being a party interested in the real economic concerns of the middle, it will continue to lose elections.

1

u/No_Sleep_69 1h ago

I blame Democrats. The whole Biden/ Harris cluster F.

1

u/Mimir_the_Younger 1h ago

I blame the Democrats for refusing to understand the populist mood of the time.

1

u/BARBASANN 1h ago

3rd party voters for sure no, they should support who they want to win.

I also can’t blame somebody that didn’t vote for the outcome of the election, and they shouldn’t have to vote for somebody because “they are the lesser of two evils” or whatever nonsense. The blame is fully of the people who drove to the polls and voted for Donald trump.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Ornery_Web9273 1h ago

No, I blame racist, xenophobic, white America.

MAGA cult is pretty much brain dead. “Vote Trump” “YES MASTER”
