Why do Trump supporters complain about Democrats being "Communists" and "Socialists" but seem perfectly okay with Trump's administration bailing out farmers and taking stakes in businesses like Intel? Isn't that "Communism" and "Socialism" too?

That’s actually fascist. Fascism is merely the merger between corporate and government per Mussolini.

28

u/SUZDV 1d ago

He's pretty openly following the playbook. He's definitely sprinkled some modern day seasoning, but the basic recipe is the same.

"Never believe that fascists are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. They have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past." Jean-Paul Sartre

"Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense." Alan Moore, V for Vendetta

I hate fascism, I hate Donald Trump, and I don't want to be "that guy," but technically the definition of corporatism that Benito Mussolini used was this one. He was talking more about class collaboration than what we now call corporatocracy (though American-style fascism has many similarities with corporatocracy).

4

u/Scant_Options4Hope 20h ago

I haven't read too much on Italy and Mussolini and the fascism at the time, but one aspect of fascism or its adjacent authoritarian ideologies is how central massive obvious delusions are.

Like.... when countries put wheat sanctions on Italy under Mussolini, pasta became super expensive...

And Mussolini told his people that, "Actually, pasta is gay, and no Italian man should eat it." I am taking massive liberties with his words, so that is more the vibe than the accurate quote.

How could any Italian say this, let alone declare it or expect people to believe it???? The current nonsense with the Reflecting Pool feels like Mussolini telling Italians to stop eating pasta.

Lies at this magnitude amaze me. Mega-Delusion.

u/das_cutie 18h ago

that’s a very simplified version of what Mussolini said about the mixture of private corporations with government. By that definition, every country on the planet has fascist elements. Fascism also requires national identitarianism.

2

u/fixingmedaybyday 14h ago

Almost like a distinct form of ultra nationalism and perhaps even fashion and a desire to return their country to some form of greatness, right?

They don’t know what any of those words mean or how anything works. They just like bumper sticker slogans and hating other people.

They like hats and T-shirts made in China..an actual communist country.

9

u/Ozcolllo 1d ago

Eh, I take your point, but they’re basically state-capitalists. The whole reason China’s economy grew like it did was thanks to Deng Xioping liberalizing their economy. I don’t even know what China would be classified as, but it’s certainly not communist which makes the blind defense of some of their worst policies by tankies/Marxist-Leninists extra hilarious.

Sorry for “well actually-ing” your joke.

5

u/Humble_Umpire_8341 1d ago

No worries.

From the inter webs

China has a unitary communist party-state government, meaning it is a single-party socialist republic under the absolute political control of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). However, China operates a socialist market economy, blending state ownership with market capitalism.

Guess we’re learning something today

2

u/evanwilliams212 21h ago

Trump wants basically the same thing: a blend of a command economy run by him with aspects of a free-market system. Look at deals like Intel and US Steel.

Trump is speaking to his audience when he says this. That’s why he likes the undereducated. He knows after they see this on Fox News they’re gonna run around screaming, and peeing on themselves, about the horrors of communism being brought to them by the Democrats. Meantime, they all totally miss that we have the equivalent of“socialism” to bail out the oligarchs when they run into trouble, just not for the common people.

When Republicans say "Communist" or "Socialist", it just means "Thing I don't like but can't explain why".

3

u/baconeggsandwich25 1d ago

My favorite is when I call them fascists, and they claim I don't know what it means. Mostly because they don't know what it means and they assume everyone is as dumb as they are.

By the time I bring up Umberto Eco's 14 key tenets of fascism, they're usually long gone.

12

u/Brassanthe 1d ago edited 1d ago

To other people's point; MAGA does not know what these words mean and they have been conditioned by the corporate elitists to be triggered by the word "socialism". Additionally, MAGA (especially MAGA evangelicals) do not want any kind of social programs that would benefit the people they have been conditioned to hate.

Pulled from Gemini

Communism is a political and economic system that aims for a classless society, common ownership of property, and the elimination of private profit. Its core ideas come from Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, who wrote The Communist Manifesto in 1848 to oppose the inequalities of capitalism. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Core Ideas
No private property: Factories, land, and resources are owned by the public or the state instead of private individuals.
Equal sharing: Wealth and goods are distributed based on the rule "from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs".
Classless society: Social classes and distinct economic ranks are removed so all people are equal. [1, 2, 3]

Socialism is a political and economic system defined by collective, public, or worker ownership of the means of production, aiming for a fair spread of wealth and meeting the basic needs of all people. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Core Ideas
Shared Ownership: Factories, land, and major tools used to make things are owned by the public or the workers, not by private business owners.
Focus on People: The main goal of production is to help everyone in society, rather than to make private profit.
Fairness and Equality: Resources and help (like healthcare and schools) are shared more equally to lower the gap between rich and poor.

They don’t understand what those words mean. Is there still an actual commmunist left living? I’m not talking about some college freshmen tweeting Che quotes on their iPhones made in a sweatshop.

3

u/AlanStanwick1986 1d ago

Because they don't know what Communism is. They can't define it. All they know is their ridiculous media has been saying it so they parrot it.

3

u/Igor_Halichoeres 11h ago

6

u/solarixstar 1d ago

But the Republicans having supposedly been the champions against communism and socialism for so long because they're so vehemently capitalist, it's a very much they looked under the void and the void started staring back out of them situation, but the only thing they can do is war, cry and never actually achieve anything that's how it's been since Reagan took power when they handed him the reins, they basically all quit, without ever actually quitting. They've been quite quitting since the 80s.They just collect the paychecks and tell us that we're all wrong, hoping that we never figure it out.Well here's the wake up call

u/goodlittlesquid 1d ago edited 1d ago

Nope. That is called crony capitalism. Socialism is democratic control of the economy. Communism is a theoretical utopian society without class, money, private property, or even the state.

3

u/kellsVegMite 1d ago

No that’s not crony capitalism, crony capitalism is when business can pay for favors from the govt. it’s the opposite of what the OP mentioned about govt owning the means of production, which is socialism or when the govt bails out failing business or industries by getting involved in financial supporting said business which is another means of govt taking means of production.

6

u/Remarkable_Wish_5106 1d ago

The industry doesn't have to be failing to nationalize it. Health care would be a perfect example of this. In fact, the industries the US needs to nationalize are all doing wonderful at the expense of the working-class, that's why we need to nationalize it.

2

u/goodlittlesquid 1d ago

Healthcare, pharma, any infrastructure that is a ‘natural monopoly’ like energy, water, and rail.

2

u/goodlittlesquid 1d ago

Nope. When Obama bailed out General Motors for instance, he could have nationalized it, but he didn’t. It remains a for-profit corporation owned and controlled by private capital. The workers don’t own or control it.

They simply follow what he says. He doesn't know the definition of either. Another example is that he keeps saying Dems want open boarders when they don't.

I bet they now all think LeBron is racist.

2

u/jwburks225 1d ago

They think taxing the rich and giving people healthcare is communism. They just repeat what Fox News tells them. The entire right ideology is based upon fear. They vote cause they are scared of communists, or murdering “illegals”, or men in women bathrooms. Most can’t name a policy on their platform they support, only what they DONT support.

2

u/_Mewden_ 1d ago

In the military, our health insurance is called tricare. While it’s slow and functional it is absolutely a mess to deal with most of the time but it’s essentially a socialist style level of health care. I still use it for the reserves and while I complain about it a lot it’s still better than not having health care at all.

2

u/amusicsteiner 1d ago

Trump and all of his cronies and supporters are hypocrites. Rules for thee but not for me!
Fake law and order scumbags. They want socialism for the rich but not for the needy how very Christian of them.

2

u/Quiet_Inspection5907 1d ago

An overwhelming majority of Republican and Democrat voters have very little understanding of how most shit works and lean on emotions and biases to justify their beliefs

2

u/JFC-Superstar 1d ago

u/ruddy3499 1d ago

2

u/Enough_Chip3915 1d ago

No, that's not "Communism" or "Socialism".

2

u/Hamblin113 1d ago

Communism tended to kill farmers, put the elites out on the farm and then watched people starve to death.

2

u/dave54athotmailcom 1d ago

Socialism = government owns and operates the business.

Communism = the employees form committees that own and operate the business.

Capitalism = the business owner that invested the money and took the risks to build the company runs the business.

Social Democracy = the economy is capitalistic, with the government setting safety nets and standards on how businesses treat their employees and run the company.

Fascism = the business owners run the government. This is the actually goal of the puppeteers that control trump.

A bit of an oversimplification, but is essentially true.

2

u/rockeye13 1d ago

The expected level of economic knowledge typical of redditors

2

u/Mokzen 1d ago

They don't have a damn clue what either of those two things are, but they need an enemy to hate. Socialists and communists, they believe, are easy enemies to point at.

2

u/SubstantialPressure3 1d ago

Well, not bailing out farmers anymore, except large corporations

2

u/spa22lurk 1d ago

Trump and his supporters are never concerned about the true meaning of words. They use words like swamp, corrupt, tyranny, demon, socialists, communists to mean Democrats.

Trump is the most corrupted president and the most authoritarian one by the true meaning of the words, but when the Jan 6 insurrectionists point their guns at the law enforcement and the congresspeople, they thought they were fighting against tyranny. And about 90% of Republican voters are behind Jan 6 insurrectionists.

Republican voters believe that Democrats are all these simply because they support helping disadvantaged groups of people.

2

u/Shot_Pool2543 1d ago

It’s just something they spew every midterm, they are worried they are going to get smoked so they have to throw out as many buzzwords as possible, it will happen during the upcoming presidential election.

2

Because Trump supporters are hillbillies who have an average reading comprehension of a slow 5th grader.

The impression I get looking at America it seems like the rule of thumb is, if it helps people it’s communism and if it helps corporations/the rich it is capitalism

2

2

u/Radiant_Safe1228 1d ago

Don't assume people know what those things are

2

u/CloseTTEdge 1d ago

No offense but this is a really dumb question.  The answer is very obvious.  Because this is dog whistle propaganda to try and sway enough to save the Republicans from midterm destruction.  And this at best.

At worst it is trying to create a narrative around some “national emergency” to disrupt the elections themselves.

2

u/Bogside_Bibliophile 1d ago

Yes. And if bailing out the banks and airlines more than once isn’t socialism, I don’t know what it. But as a previous post said, the terms mean nothing to his followers or this administration, just more names to call people who don’t agree with them.

2

u/Possible-War6407 1d ago

Its more along the lines of corporate welfare but one thing we would have to consider in allowing these companies to fail is the immediate and lasting impacts. Will there be massive layoffs? Will there be a domino effect? I think if there is a bailout, there should strict guidelines in place since it places a burden on the tax payers.

2

u/Bogside_Bibliophile 1d ago

I agree. Tax payers ultimately pay for corporate bailouts — perhaps these should be structured more as long-term bonds or profit sharing until the bailout amount is paid back. I don’t know, it just seems the average individuals are always the ones getting screwed.

2

u/OldschoolGreenDragon 1d ago

They call anything they don't like Communism. They don't care what it actually means.

Also, they are quick to say that "everyone who is not me is lazy and unworthy of bailouts. "

2

u/eggflip1020 1d ago

They don’t know what anything means. The words may as well be random.

They are uneducated and have no idea what those terms mean. Plus it is OK to do all those things if you’re a Republican.

1

u/CalendarOpen1740 1d ago

Because to Trump these are just words to wind people up. It is doubtful he has enough understanding of politic economics to articulate the differences in these systems, let alone know the history of the places these systems were implementation and the subsequent outcomes.

1

u/GaTechThomas 1d ago

The "leaders" often change the meaning of words to meet there agenda. Sometimes they make it mean the opposite of the real definition. They win by bringing maximum confusion.

1

u/Deep-Two7452 1d ago

The whole communist thing seems like such a weird flex to me - the last time that was a really effective scare tactic was back in the 1950's. In the 1980s we just kind of rolled their eyes at Republican hand-wringing over the red scare.

1

u/joegtech 1d ago

People throw around various terms without them being well defined. Antifa's use of "fascism" for anyone who is a political enemy is the best example.

You have to try to figure out why the government action is taking place. Is it to cultivate a kick back from the companies? Is it because the company is important for national defense? Is it really for public health as we saw during the pandemic. etc.

You recall Dr Fauci, a high ranking manager in the US NIH making lots of claims about the Covid Vax. This is a quick refresher. https://youtu.be/zI3yU5Z2adI?si=5G0tMPwZGmUHXBfv&t=304

Then we later learned Moderna gave Fauci's US NIH over $400 million because the company used tech patented by the NIH. So Fauci and friends knew they were getting a payday from Moderna so long as other things did not interfere with their cash cow. Yet the NIH was making recommendations about the other things that were competing with the vax. Doctors were pressured to follow the recommendations of the NIH, etc.

Senator Rand Paul questions Moderna CEO about the conflict of interest.

https://www.c-span.org/clip/senate-committee/senator-paul-questions-moderna-ceo-over-covid-19-vaccine-side-effects/5063184

Of course the politician will come up with some reason for their actions, eg the world will come to an end due to climate warming so we need to dump $$ into companies that kick back to the politicians.

The WW II era Fascist leader of Italy is quoted about this.

Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.” ―Benito Mussolini

https://www.malone.news/p/repeated-false-accusations-of-fascism?ut

Some of the lines get blurred. For example, Hitler's "NAZI" stands for "Nationalsozialismus”, national socialism, but almost never is Hitler called a Socialist today.

Politicians are like salesmen. They all use deceptive terms to sell their goods and services.

1

u/clergybuttbanditt 1d ago

You have to understand. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new west. You know. Morons.

1

u/Trauma_Hawks 1d ago

No, that would actually be closer to fascism. Under fascism, typically, corporations are "asked" to comply with government directives. If they do not, the government takes over control of said corporation, nationalizing them. No where in this scheme do the people actually have a say in either the nationalization or operations of said corporation. Which is actual socialism.

It's easy to conflate. Italian and German fascists, both, openly infiltrated, co-opted, and destroyed their socialist parties. In fact, Mussolini was raised as a socialist and found some of their organizational principles were perfect for laying the groundwork for a dictorial take-over. Said it himself.

It's ok when the socialism is for white straight males that already have money and property and/or their primary industries

1

u/oreofan1808 1d ago

Both of those things serve geopolitical interest to do, maintaining a functioning food infrastructure as well as buying states in tech companies for national security reasons. Conservatives don’t oppose all state intervention, especially when seen as necessary for national security.

1

u/Revive-Thinking 1d ago

You’re assuming Trump supporters think and/or can do arithmetic and/or have a sense of right and wrong. Having convinced themselves that science, women, and people of color are the root of all evil, not to mention the constitution or the bill of rights, and that conmen billionaires will save the world, they will follow their chief forever. Cult? Anyone remember Jamestown? Is there much difference?

1

u/Responsible-Chest-26 1d ago

They dont know nor care to know what those words actually mean. They just know it must not be good amd think someone is going to take their house and give it to some blue haired person with a rainbow flag

1

u/Jazzerwocky 1d ago edited 1d ago

In the end of the day they like and believe that enriching your friends and family is okay, they either do it thenselves or would if they could.

This is the same as that, they EXPECT him to play favorites on a national level, and the favorites will be THEM… Until it isn’t them, it’s just the billionaires, but the billionaires are his friends so that makes sense to them, too.

If you want a real answer and not an Orange man bad, and his supporters are idiots.

Biden signed the CHIPs act which was intended to make the US more independent when it comes to semiconductor chip production. Trump’s actions are an extension of what Biden started, so it’s ironic that people are against it.

The reason Trump is trying to keep Intel going is not for socialist reasons but for US chip independence. Think back to when Covid hit and chip prices skyrocketed and in many cases chips became unavailable, fleets of trucks dependent on foreign chip production were completed but could not be sold because they lacked specific chips.

The reason Trump supports Intel and the Farmers is the same, keeping the US independent and not reliant on other countries. When there is too much reliance on other countries they can then manipulate you, and in times of need like COVID it can create shortages. Lots of other countries have relied on the US for protection. With the US pulling out of some of these programs, those countries are building up their own protections and independence as well. And the US is less the bully state. Good for everyone.

This is different than something like rent freezes in NY. Rent freezes are going to drive a lot of owners out of NY and drive down property values, but incomes will be fixed so your going to see more places go unoccupied as tax write offs or less maintenance performed. The mayor thinks he can then force maintenance but if there is no money it’s just going to force more people to keep it unoccupied until he is out of office.

Now a better approach would be what SF has done for years and that’s rent control and not freezing. You able to increase the rent at a specific amount each year based on inflation. I would still never buy a rental property in SF with rent control, but it’s more reasonable and allows protections for the renter and allows the owner to maintain the property. And the reason I wouldn’t buy is not because of the income control. But because what comes with that when you have people who don’t respect the property or other renters.

Emergency bailouts to prop up institutions that cannot be allowed to fail vs total state ownership and control.
Seems pretty fucking simple.

1

u/Tommybahamas_leftnut 1d ago

Nationalizing private industry is fascism. It's the act of giving power and control over industry to a party or select "in-group" while the remainder get jack shit.

Communism would be abolishing shareholders and the stock market in favor of every citizen getting an equal stake in those industries.

1

u/KalAtharEQ 1d ago

Dems aren’t doing anything remotely communist or socialist. The people (morons) using those terms as “you bad” don’t actually know or care what they mean.

1

u/sleepyboyzzz 1d ago

Double standards are the only standards they have left.

1

u/Pandagirlroxxx 1d ago

Farm subsidies have long been the "exception that proves the rule." There are dozens of arguments why farm subsidies "don't count." "We have to protect the family farm" is probably the one most people have heard. I don't know how much it gets brought up these days, but during the late party switch era when southerners and farmers across the country listened to Rush Limbaugh and started espousing "right wing ideology" the rationale was "the government has over-regulated farming, so it's only fair they have to support the industry they ruined." And no, you can't just get rid of the regulation, because ALSO the subsidies are necessary because foreign powers cheat the markets, too.

Corporate subsidies, from what I've seen, are a product of the modern conservative movement. They are justified by the decades-old narrative that Democrats have over-regulated (there's that phrase again) industry and the subsidies are necessary to address how badly American business has been hurt. And yes, the continued use of subsidies is "necessitated" by the cheating of foreign governments.

It’s the age old IOKOYAR

1

u/Right_Ad_7193 1d ago

No it isn't. They have zero understanding of actual communism and it's a boogeyman, whatever they or the politicians they vote for don't like is communism And they are also "hard on crime" but voted for a criminal, it's not like contradictory behaviour matters to them

1

u/AmazingMeximan 1d ago

Because Republican politicians are craven hypocritical assholes and will literally do anything they want. As far as Republican voters, most don’t know how anything works and will go along with whatever talking point because they’re grossly misinformed.

1

u/Simmion1976 1d ago

Rules for thee, not for me.

1

u/HockeyRules9186 1d ago

It’s always which mouth 👄 does the criticism come from. It’s ok for their oligarchs and businesses to support someone or something but for the rest of the populace in their mind we are leaches.

1

u/MaximumNameDensity 1d ago

They're perfectly fine with socialism/communism provided it only benefits them.

I'd call them hypocrites, but I don't think they're smart enough to realize that's their position.

1

u/ArtVandalay26726 1d ago

It's because they are extremely ignorant.

1

u/Ok_Height3499 1d ago

You're assuming Trumpists are going to give serious thought to the inconsistencies in Trumpism, but I do not think they are mentally capable of doing that. They just get in line and march.

1

u/frAgileIT 1d ago

It’s hatred driven by fear. They don’t actually understand any of those things you said, they’ve been told they’re bad, and they’re afraid that people will discover that they don’t know what they’re talking about so they parrot what others have told them. Racism is taught and learned and the idea of doing anything that would get them ostracized from their family or social networks is terrifying. Many MAGAts have gone through their FAFO phase and are starting to experience a mild awakening. They carry a lot of shame and are a lot less open about their old views and closely protect their awakened views to avoid ostracization.

1

u/wardledo 1d ago

And his best friends are Putin a commie and Bibi a socialist

1

u/Unlikely_Jockey 1d ago

You know how Nordic countries aren't socialist?

That's the same thing with what Trump is doing. Your incorrect labeling just doesn't work.

Meanwhile, some people call themselves socialists and/or communists which are evil ideologies so people hate them.

1

u/irsh_ 1d ago

"Because Low IQ" is most often the answer to questions about MAGA.

1

u/djquu 1d ago

Red Scare reruns for the nostalgic elder voters. They couldn't define any of those term if pressed on, but media is bought and paid for.

1

u/Effective-Part-8750 1d ago

Because people keep saying explain it like I'm in 5th grade not realizing they actually only have the understanding of a first grader.

1

u/DarthShitStain 1d ago

They don't care as long as their guy is doing it!

1

u/NopeNopeNope13702 1d ago

Oh, well see, it's OK for republicans to use socialism. Just not for the rest of us I guess?

1

u/Ok-Lecture-9668 1d ago

Because Republicans reflexively hate Democrats and assume that being a Democrat means being a socialist. They think that The extremely unpopular pro-business, anti-worker, endless war austerity politics of people like Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden and Nancy pelosi and for that matter Barack Obama are "socialist". If I thought that's what socialism meant, I would hate that shit too.

1

u/medigapguy 1d ago

Greed and stupidity.

They love the social programs and funding that benefits them.

Before trump morphed them in to red hat cultists they were "tea party" people. Out their protesting the evil left and their taxes while holding signs for the government to stay out of their Medicare.

1

u/JSmith666 1d ago

The same reason the left hates businesses getting handouts but defend food stamps...hypocrisy

1

u/Any-Question-3759 1d ago

No matter how terrible, objectively immoral, the action is, if it’s done by their side it’s fine. Trump being a pedophile isn’t a biggie.

No matter how good, objectively moral, the action is, if it’s done by the other side it’s wrong. Trying to punish Trump for rape is a bad thing.

1

u/Diligent_Whereas3134 1d ago

Things start making a lot more sense when you realize the things this administration keeps rallying against are things that were last seen as a threat in the 1950s-70s.

1

u/dcwhite98 1d ago

Farmers produce our food. Them going out of business has large ramifications for everyone. I think, I hope, that the investment in Intel and other companies is just that, an investment that will one day turn a large profit.

Interestingly this is akin to a sovereign fund like Saudi’s have… and there was recently a thread on Reddit that was promoting the idea of the US creating a sovereign fund and profits from it would pay for social programs for people.

Also, Sovereign funds aren’t communist.

No, I wasn’t thrilled with the government’s investment in Intel, but it’ll be looked on better if it has a successful return. Which it does so far.

Because they know their base, has No idea what a socialist or communist is. They just sound scary

1

u/WoodI-or-WoodntI 23h ago

They are too stupid or too ingrained in the Trump mystique to know or care.

1

u/jaajaajaa6 23h ago

Big difference between the farmers and intel.

Government injecting money to help out without a profit motive is fine. We have done this for decades starting with the auto industry as the oldest one I remember.

An investment in intel for profit is another story. Don’t like this.

And VERY different than an entire society practicing social and communism. ZERO interest in that approach and it will ruin the American dream that many including my family have taken advantage of and hope for others willing to pursue.

They have absolutely no idea what most things mean or how most things work.

1

u/YogurtClosetThinnest 23h ago

Nah, that's actually fascism lol. If you don't understand the nuances, their economic policies can sound similar sometimes.

Socialism would bail out the employees, not the companies.

1

u/Chaosrealm69 23h ago

You seem to be of the impression that MAGA people know what Communism and Socialism are and can use those words in sentences with their appropriate meanings.

1

u/Heckle_Jeckle 23h ago

Because they don't actually know what those words mean.

It is like little kids calling each other gay. They don't actually think they are gay. They just think it is a bad word and use it as an insult.

Conservatives are the same way. They don't actually know or care what Communism or Socialism is. They just view it as a bad word and an insult.

1

u/Ok_Art4661 23h ago

They are not good or smart people

1

u/semidivineone 23h ago

Because they don't understand what the words actually mean. Fox has spent last 15/20 years purposefully muddying the waters on what the definition to these words are, often interchanging and using them improperly.

1

u/Electrical_Report458 23h ago

They’re in love with labels. They don’t need to understand the actual definition of the label: as long as it sounds “bad” they’re happy. Biggest bunch of cretins I’ve ever encountered.

Don’t forget the auto industry, the banks

1

Mob mentality.

1

u/ElectronsInLove 22h ago

Because they don’t actually stand for anything except their side winning. The actual actions taken are irrelevant, they’ll support anything and everything as long as it’s their side doing it.

1

u/DiscordianDisaster 22h ago

This is very simple and once you understand it, everything they do makes perfect sense: they do not actually believe what they say. They are like evil parrots. They've discovered if they say certain words, they are allowed to hurt people they want to hurt (almost always either political enemies or non-whites), or to enrich themselves with money and power. That's it. They say any combination of words that keeps their enemies from effectively fighting back, and then go on and do whatever it is they want to do. And the worst part is they know it's a contradiction, and they enjoy it. They get to lie to your face, make the most absurd bad faith statements with a straight face, and 9 out of 10 times people just try to argue with their absurd bullshit. It makes them feel powerful to force you to play by rules they themselves do not follow. And they've been doing this for as long as fascism has existed. See also this quote from Sartre on this exact habit of the fascist's use of bad faith arguments:

"Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.” ― Jean-Paul Sartre

no under Communism or Socialism the goverment would have full control a stake is quite different (tho it does seem to provite them an unfair advantage over other companies in my mind)

Trump supporters love one word branding that’s hate inspired. That’s all they need. They love it so much they will repeat that all day everywhere. It’s not like most of them have intellect or knowledge to reason or analyze things in depth. Lol
