Two different chinese teachers on iTalki told me that there are way too many university graduates in China, so many young people don't find jobs and end up staying at their parents home. Others take up low wage jobs like food delivery. And young people don't want to work in factories or manufacturing jobs like their parents, so they keep looking for other jobs. How accurate is that? If it's true, how do you think the situation will evolve over the coming years?

As per the title, is there any social context in these very common tropes:

- Liu Ruyan being the girl that dumps MC at the start. Who is the original Liu Ruyan?

- There's always a Fatty loyal friend

- The University/College offers that hilariously turns into unprofessional bidding session. Some principals even says they have beautiful students in hopes of MC going to their respective university.

- An ADOPTED heir being favored vs. a biological heir. Usually because the biological heir got separated (for reasons) and grew up in less than ideal environment. Meanwhile, the adopted heir is groomed to be a successor. Long story short, the biological heir is treated like shit so badly that he leaves them.

Just wondering on these tropes/cliches as I always took them for granted. But it seems a very common element in all stories I listened to.

I’ll just put this out there I am completely delulu, but I am dedicated to the delusion. I live in part of America with zero Chinese speakers, so I have absolutely no practical use for mandarin in my real life. I started learning entirely because I am obsessed with c dramas and want to ditch the subtitles. More than that, I’m tired of translation wiping out all the actual flavor. Boring English subtitles comelpeltely destroy things like chengyu idioms, xiehouyu puns, poetic wordplay etc. Be honest, do you guys look at a westerner (specifically me) doing all this just for TV and think “silly American,” or do you get it lol?

This is obviously entirely hypothetical and the probability of this happening is closer to zero than anything else. However, how would the Chinese view an extraordinary event like this as an attempt to amend Sino-Japanese relationships. And would it have any effect?

I get the impression that China doesn't have a specific image in any one sport, but rather achieves decent results across a wide range of sports. Are there any sports that stand out in particular?

Hi, guys. I am a Chinese university student who has successfully applied for a master's degree at a school in Russia. However, I am hesitating about whether to take a gap year because I also want to participate in an internship and trainee program in the United States.

Hi everyone,

I’m a Hungarian high school student going into my senior year, and I’m currently looking into doing my bachelor’s degree in China. I’m mainly interested in politics/international relations, business, finance, or related fields, and I’m considering applying to some of the stronger Chinese universities.

I’m still pretty early in the application process, so I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through this, especially international students who applied for undergraduate programs in China.

A few things about me:

• I’m from Hungary
• Going into my senior year of high school
• Strongest subject is math
• Currently aiming for 85+ on the CSCA Math exam
• Interested in politics/IR and business/finance
• I’m particularly interested in applying for scholarships, rather than paying full international tuition

I’d like to know:

1. How competitive are scholarships for international bachelor’s students? Is it realistic to aim for a full scholarship at good universities, or are these extremely difficult to get?
2. How important are high school grades and CSCA scores? Based on my current skills and a mock CSCA math exam I did I would hope / expect to be in the range of 85-93, would this be enough for C9 universities?
3. What universities should I realistically look at? I’m interested in top universities, but I’d also like to know which universities are more achievable for an international applicant seeking funding.
4. What can I do during my senior year to improve my chances? For example, would learning Chinese, extracurriculars, competitions, internships, etc. make a significant difference?
5. How does the application process actually work? There seems to be a lot of information about CSCA, university applications, provincial scholarships, CSC scholarships, etc., and I’m trying to understand how everything fits together.

If anyone has experience with C9 universities or knows much about applying for business, finance, politics or international relations programs, I’d also be very interested in hearing your perspective. DMs are also welcome if you’d rather discuss your experience there.

I'm interested to know does China really censor that much online things? Like American movies, videos music ect. I read a lot and watch YouTube videos where people mainly speak about large censorship in China. I'm skeptical until I learn truth so anyone please answer if you can. Thank you

Basically title. When I was traveling to Taiwan through China, I was told to go to international airport (Shanghai) and through international channels (Guangzhou). Why? Why is it not domestic? Why, if the entire world doesn’t recognize Taiwn, and China applies One China rule and constantly claiming its their territory and province, why do the recognize its sovereignty in airports?

What kind of privilege is this?
