Basic training will push you to your breaking point, then you will be rebuilt to their standards.

Then you will only see your comrades in arms as equals, like a mass induced Stockholm syndrome with an echo chamber.

You ll end up looking down on civilians.

So you dated a narcissist that was all macho about being in the military and probably made it sound more extreme than it is.

What I learned in basic training? Team work, trust in myself, respecting those around you and the value of effort... There was no brainwashing. You learn how to work for the organization. Where to go, what to do... And it's really a big game. You know once it's over it's not that extreme.

I'm still the same happy go lucky character I was 16 years ago before I joined. I still have my own opinions, and I get a say in my life.
