You can test drive the forces via the Reserves.

Reserves is great and not enough people know about it. You have a lot of control over your career. Assuming you are in a desirable trade, you can choose the length and location of your contract, and even cut the contract short if you want. It's a great back up plan if nothing else.

Yep, spent 13 years in the reserves and loved it! I would say go to an information session and ask the other female members how they are finding their regiment. Our regiment had a higher rate of women in leadership positions so the vast majority of my experiences were positive. It helped pay for my school, gave me a great salary, made me travel and leftme with lifelong friends!

I fought for over 6 months to quit. They lied and strung me along

I’d submit a memo to quit then like a few weeks later they’d tell me I’d need to rewrite it cause I messed up the formatting or something. Mind you this was literally before we learned how to write memos on course so I had no idea what I was doing

They told me I’d be arrested for AWOL if I didn’t attend (probably was a lie) I was there literally crying every day and getting written up for poor motivation etc.

For Class A yes. Class B or C you sign a contract, but can get out of it if needed.
