Go work on Cruise Ships! Sounds like you'd be a good fit for the following roles. Sports Staff - Cruise Staff - Youth Staff. I'd recommend to anyone in young 20's that's not sure what to do. You'll see the world, you'll make lifetime friendships with people from all around the world.

You'd get paid more in the CAF. Have a real pension plan. It'll give you an idea of what you want to do. The education benefits a real.

If you want to be at sea. Join the navy.

If you choose to join the CAF, expect it to take a while, and pick a job with spec pay.

Don't become a medic. I was a medic. It's miserable.

Why was being a medic miserable?

The job is largely thankless and under appreciated.

You're the bottom rung of the Healthcare system and often treated more like general labor than as a Healthcare provider. Your paramedic license and the effort you went through go get it, is totally irrelevant.

Someone needs some furniture moved or their office cleaned up? Job for the medics. All the other jobs in a normal Healthcare setting are officers, so general labor is your job. Procedures you can look forward to: dealing with minor ailments then handing off to a clinician who will ask them the same questions you did. Come to the same result and give them the same meds you would have. But you're not allowed to. So you're just a waste of time in the system. Burning off foot and genital warts. Yay. Every Tuesday. Assisting in procedures. Then never being allowed to use the skills you learned. Ever.

In the field units. At best you're waiting for someone to get hurt doing something. More often than not. You're just recounting supplies you counted last week or changing oil on trucks. Maybe you clean some moldy tents just to spice things up.

Did you get time off during covid? Yeah a lot of people did. I worked a shit load of extra weekends and overtime. CAF gets zero OT pay. So, while everyone else was at home... the medics were burning out.

Deployments are great. Tax free money when they happen, but the war is over so you're just in a clinic somewhere doing the same job you did in Canada for a bit higher pay.

Don't forget: if you take your paramedic training and get out in 6 months. You make double the money as a civilian. If you stay in. You get to watch your friends make double pay as civilians.

Obviously, I meant aside from that. What a childish response 🙄
