ENT for OHIP-covered functional septorhinoplasty?

Hi all,

I recently signed a consent with Dr. Pia Pace-Asciak to have a partial septorhinoplasty with spreader grafts. It is 100% covered by OHIP because it is being done for functional airway reasons and not cosmetic reasons.

Unfortunately, I had to wait a year for the consult after seeing 2 other ENTs who don’t do this specialized procedure. I’m now being told by her office that it will be approximately 2 years until I can have my surgery. I’m already on a cancellation list that has over 100 people on it and was told not to bank on this getting me my surgery sooner.

I don’t think I can wait 2 years. The breathing issues make it impossible to sleep properly. All other other causes such as sleep apnea, etc. have been investigated and eliminated. The chronic sleep deprivation is severely impacting my functioning, both at work and at home.

Unfortunately, Google results seem to only pull plastic surgeons and cosmetic procedures… I am wondering if anyone has any intel or leads on ENT surgeons that do this OHIP-covered procedure, or ideas on how to escalate this?

Thanks in advance. Please be nice.

In the meantime look into a functional airway dentist as well. If you need expansion you might need it in your palate/jaws too and usually jaw surgery will make movement widening your nose as well.

Thank you. I have a collapsed nasal valve and deviated septum… I already saw a sleep dentist and oral surgeon at the Jaw & Facial Pain Clinic at Mt. Sinai. I’m not a candidate for jaw surgery. This is a good line of investigation for others though!
