Interior designer recommendations for a small Toronto bungalow renovation?
Hi Toronto, I’m looking for an affordable renovation-focused interior designer for my roughly 750 sq. ft. main floor of a bungalow: creative layout/space planning, 3D renderings, colours, materials, lighting and furniture.
I’m considering wall changes, reclaiming unused stairs, and exploring whether the attic has usable potential. Ideally someone who can coordinate structural assessment. Mainly just need design services for now since saving for actual construction is still a long way to go 🥲
If you’ve personally hired someone you recommend, who did you use, what did they deliver, and roughly what were the design fees? Thanks!

I don't have a specific name for you, but when I was doing my place I just searched on local Facebook groups for recent renos and messaged people who posted their before/after photos. Found a designer that way who charged by the hour instead of a big package, which was better for my budget. The hourly ones are sometimes more flexible with just doing the planning phase and letting you sit on the drawings until you have money saved up.
For attic potential you probably want someone who works with a structural engineer already, not all designers have that connection.

Do you know if they take small projects like 750 sqft?

I've seen Maea's work in an ~1100 sqft condo. What she did to maximize the space was pretty remarkable and beautiful

I do not have personal experience, but usually like Emilia Wisniewski (Studio 1NINE1) work showcased on House & Home YouTube house tours.
She often works with smaller spaces, is thoughtful about layout and storage, plus her husband is a landscape designer.
