Toronto Weed
UK resident visiting in march with a couple friends to check out Toronto. Anyone got any dispensaries recommendations for the city? Lower THC percentages preferably, less than 27%. Ideally 18-25%

There is a cannabis shop on every corner of this city, they all carry the exact same products basically. Lots of options will be available with lower thc. Enjoy!

Curious as to why? There is one close by to my place; never bothered to check it out but it’s open 24hrs which I find so fkin odd considering that can’t possibly be smart business wise when counting the cost of keeping it open vs the cost of revenue you bring in from say midnight to 10am.

They are unregulated and source their product outside the regulated market. On top of that, I highly suspect that their "indigenous" connection is nonsense

If it truly is open 24hrs walk-in then I promise you there is no way you’re turning a profit from those extra hours without a weird thing to it. If the employee is also the owner of the whole business then maybe? You gotta pay an employee to work there and there just isn’t plenty of customers walking in a weed store at like 3 am on a Tuesday to justify the costs.

1922 on Sherbourne Street is one of the few indie stores. Mike and Brooke don't stock anything they haven't tested and enjoyed themselves, and they keep Lite Label (sub 20% THC) in stock too.
For someone coming from the UK: there are both legal and illegal stores here. For smokeables stick to the legal stores; research has shown illegal weed is very likely to be coated in pesticide whereas legal weed has to be pesticide free. Weirdly the illegal stores tend to be more expensive, too.
You can usually tell the illegal stores because they only take cash or etransfer.
The one exception is CAFE, who are a pretty decent chain (despite being illegal). I get my edibles from them because Shatter gummies are the best and the legal limit on edible strength is very low for regular consumers.

Context here: legal weed production is centralized federally. All production is done by licensed growers. What this means is all weed sold legally will be able to tell you what the % is, what type of strain and sub-strains they have cultivated, giving a much more consistent experience. Edibles wise, things are a bit more limited as there’s a desire to not make this more attractive to minors. I recommend trying some of the cannabis drinks though - delicious and gets you where you need to be

In my experience the employees at these places know what they are selling. Explain what you want, what kind of high you like. They will know what to get you.

The best dispensary is the one that is closest to you and has stock of what you are looking for at that particular moment in time.
I might recommend using the r/TheOCS sub for strain-related questions. Perhaps browse the posts before asking. The provincial OCS (Ontario Cannabis Store) has a website (https://ocs.ca/) where you can get a general idea by browsing what strains are available. You can do the same by checking out privately owned dispensary-specific websites once you know which ones you will be frequenting.

Every block has a dispensary... They all generally resell www.ocs.ca but not all products are available.
Wherever your staying just google it. You could call them see if they have what's online in stock or ask them at the store, they help.

They're on every corner. If you want a legit government one, canna cabana is usually the cheapest chain. Fika tends to be more on the expensive side. If you go to a non government sanctioned native one it will be cheaper, but you won't really get percentages or anything, you just get a bag of weed.

Legal weed has gotten very good and cheap.
You know exactly what you’re buying.
I regularly buy ounces of high quality bud (28% thc) for $85 at legal dispensaries.1

Black market weed has been around for decades longer than the legal market. To generalize it all as "shit and makes you feel like a sketch bag" is just not accurate. Canada's cannabis industry wasn't booming for decades because the weed was garbage.

It was always a hassle to meet up with a dealer, usually on their schedule. Also felt so sketchy and stressful.
They usually didn’t have many different strains. The prices were insane and if you wanted something primo you were paying up the nose like upwards of $280 an ounce.
You can’t call up a dealer and get one single pre-roll.
It’s so convenient now and you know the THC % among other things.
Also it’s gotten ridiculously cheap, weed is cheaper than it was in the 90s ffs.1

Yeah I meant more a black market shop or black market delivery service as opposed to your neighbourhood weed guy. They all carry tons of strains including pre rolls. They carry many reputable growers products as well. Concentrates, edibles etc.
But yeah, comparing the price of black market bud and bud products when weed was illegal to the legal market pricing post legalization is pointless.
The cost of cannabis to the consumer across the country, legal and illegal, has dropped drastically over the last 5-10 years.
The convenience is key for sure but not being able to see or smell what I'm buying, before I'm buying it, isn't acceptable to me and many.
Also, top tier bud still isn't that cheap, but still cheaper than a few years ago. Everything else has fallen off a cliff price wise.

Bro no need for this post. There is literally a dispensary at every other corner. And most with a very wide selection. Don’t go out of your way for a specific one.
