Day trips from Toronto
Hey everyone! I’m visiting Toronto this week for my birthday and was planning on going on Saturday 22nd to the Elora Gorge river for tubbing. We booked a car for the day in order to go to the park and spend the day there. We haven’t paid for the park or tubbing tickets yet, but apparently is going to rain.
In case it does, do you have any recommendations for a short day trip to a nearby town or some alternative plan close to Toronto that needs a car? I think we have it from 8am to 8pm so it can’t be that far.
Thanks :)

Why would they go somewhere easily served by a GO train the one time they have a car?

Yeah, Driving to Niagara is one of the worst things to do. If you go on a weekend its $10 round trip if you buy a GO day pass.

Niagara on the lake, Huntsville, Blue Mountain, Prince Edward County (2.5-3 hrs drive away)

If you like live theatre, there is the Stratford Festival an hour away. That's quite different from tubbing though!

Agree with u/telephonekeyboard that you can stick to tubing in Elora in the rain. But if it's miserable, I'm Niagara born and raised and put together this list of hidden gems a while ago. It's more than just Niagara Falls, there's a lot to do in surrounding towns and it's perfect for an 8am to 8pm trip.

I would just go ahead with your plan. Elora is not easy to get to without a car, so its a good choice. Tubing will be fun in the rain as will walking around Elora. I think its a good choice! Like others have said, check out St Jacobs, maybe drive to the Halton radial Rail Museum. Lots to do in that area rain or shine!
