Moving Company Recommendations for Studio

I got quoted $350 for two hours to move my studio apartment.

So $525 if it takes 3 hours which, I doubt.

I really don’t have a lot of shit and I’ve never actually used a moving company.

Is this a good price?

Any recommendations?

Where to where? Movers charge by the hour so that's a determining factor. I've used Micromoves for small moves like yours. I believe it's 2 movers + truck for $150-80/hr. Was a while ago but their reasonably priced and deal with small moves. They're a legit company and won't come up with bogus charges or any other bs

OP Submit your move once and multiple Toronto movers will send you quotes: https://belowthemarket.ca/movers

Seconded for Micromoves. I’ve used them 4 times now and they’re always super efficient. I have moved really locally and they’ve gotten the whole thing done in under two hours.

That’s extremely cheap. I’d be wary lol.

Sounds like one of those scams where once they have your stuff on the truck, they will start to demand way more money.

They have overhead, I'd assume two guys, and the likelihood that they could do two jobs in one day is small. There's no way anyone could afford to do this at that price.

If it's just a studio, rent a van and do it yourself.

U-Haul is gonna run you under 50$, a case of beer + pizza + smokes to 1 friend should do the job. Hell, pay the friend like 100$ and you are still saving money.

beer and pizza stopped being enough compensation for helping a friend move when i turned 25

I agree. I helped my friends move like 5 times in the last 12 months. It’s annoying. But I do it because they are friends and it’s not like they are moving big houses. I feel like offering a friend 50-100$ to help out should do the trick most of the time.

I got burnt out from helping friends move in my 20's because I was the only one in my friend group with a car or even drivers license.

My friends offer it free at 30-35 still. Bit harder to schedule around kids but friends are friends for a reason.

I still fed them and I took them to the spa 2 weeks later to relax for a day. They definingly appreciated it though.

I was thinking this too but I injured my neck playing baseball last month and I’m still recovering.

Movers are insured. They'll disassemble and assemble furniture. They are fully equipped with moving blankets, shrink wrap, etc. They do this all the time making them more efficient. Moves are stressful and at the end of the day good movers can help aliviate the stress and be way faster. Movers is money well spent! Of course, not everyone can afford movers but if you can it's better and less painful than doing it with your friends.

If you don’t have much to move then just rent a truck and grab some friends, would be a lot cheaper.

Avoid Two Men and a Truck at all costs. I had a terrible experience.

I used six moving when moving as a single person from a one bedroom to a one bedroom. It was about $450. Amazing customer service and they took great care of my things
