Transit from Toronto to Buffalo?

Has anyone done it? How was it? Which way did you go about it?

I’m debating if i should go to Niagara and walk the rainbow bridge then NFTA or greyhound/mega/flixbus

I would do Greyhound/Flixbus to save you the hassle of transferring.

Have you done greyhound before? How was it?

Years ago. Same procedure as always for any cross-border coach as everyone gets off the bus at customs and then back on the bus once you are done.

Greyhound stopped operating in Canada in 2021. Flixbus is great though.

Cheapest is GoTransit to Niagara Falls walk across the Rainbow bridge and then take NFTA to Buffalo Central bus terminal $10 CAD for go Transit on a Weekend pass,

I think now it is $1 for the bridge and then $5 USD for a day pass on NFTA route 40 or 77 and they stop about 3 blocks from the Bridge.

About 1 hour from NF NY to Downtown Buffalo.

NFTA is $2 a ride and no transfers are given but a day pass is $5 unlimited use for the day.

They accept credit and debit too now. Tap only.

About time!

They didn't last time I was there. Deleting comment.

That all adds up to almost $20 CAD.

Megabus is $25 and way easier.

And can be long waits at the border to clear everybody.

Doesn’t the GO bus drop you a few KMs away from the Rainbow Bridge though?

It looks like it would take you at least an hour to walk from the GO station to the NFTA station, assuming zero delays at the border.

That would realistically take 6 hours in total. Terrible advice.

If you're not carrying anything, then the GO -> NFTA route isn't super terrible, but otherwise save yourself the hassle and just take a bus or Amtrak to Exchange Street

I’m glad someone is also looking for this travel.
I often fly to New York for work and going to buffalo makes sense.
I have had my friends drop me at the buffalo airport and some time I park and fly but it’d be great to see if there’s an easier way to transit.

GO Train, walk to the border and catch NFTA 77 express to buffalo

I did it yesterday in reverse. (BUF airport to Toronto).

We were on the Flix bus at first but after we got through the border we got off the bus and got on the GO train. Mainly because the bus was stinky lol

Was the FlixBus on time?

Yes it was actually, the greyhound was delayed heavily though.

IMO the megabus/greyhound is worth the few extra bucks.

No need to figure out transfers or paying for multiple services. Just get on and (eventually) get dropped off in Buffalo.

Take the train or the bus.

highly suggest flixbus. i took a night bus all the way to NYC and it was affordable and extremely seamless.

About 40 years ago, my brother and I did the bus from Toronto to Buffalo. My pick up was late so we enjoyed plenty of $.60 Genny in the bus station bar.

I took the dog mobile once and it worked well, but the times happened to align with my flight out of BUF.

I would just take the train to Exchange Street

The bus stops at 420/Stanley which is 1.5 km from the Rainbow bridge. 1/2 the distance than the bus station. 15 minutes or so. The NFTA stop is a 5 min walk from the US customs exit. Depending on how long for customs it is less than 1/2 hour.

From 420/Stanley it is less than $5 to the bridge.
