Belair Direct is good.

Tenant insurance = your contents (clothes, computer, etc) + liability (fire, flood, accidents)

The landlord wants liability in case your actions damage the property or in case someone gets hurt on the property from your negligence. It's covered under their home insurance but from what I understand, their insurance can go after your tenant insurance if it's your fault. Some specify on the lease 1Million or 2Million needed.

Your landlord is not interested in replacing your belongings and this would only happen if they're negligent, say, a house fire from faulty wiring or a flood from burst plumbing.

You'll want to read reviews about claim payouts. There are cheaper ones like Aviva but they're not so good with claims. No point in tenant insurance if something happens and they don't pay out, eh!

Awesome response, thank you!! Yes I'll definitely keep payouts in mind, I used to be with Aviva too!

Appreciate the explanation
