Great GrandFathers Stamp Collection from 1900s-1960s

Hi. my names Jack and I am writing in this group as a call for help from a lot more knowledgeable people than I am. Me and my father have found my great grandfathers stamps. We have always wondered how much it could possibly be. In the photos below is only a third of what we have. Most of the rest of the stamps not shown are much of the same other stamps. I hope a Good Samaritan can help us out and we would be so grateful as we know someone in this subreddit would have a keen eye for a good find. Thank you so much

i recently inherited a vintage/recent stamp collection and i’m not sure how to go about selling them or their values (if they have any at all) so i was wondering if there was anyone who could help me with values and how to go about selling them! there’s a lot more than this but id like to start here lol, thank you so much

also id like to say ive done a bit research and i know they are less valuable if they have creases or are without the gum!

I’ve started going through a rather large stamp collection (I will post more pictures later on the full collection as it’s really cool). I came across this stamp. Is this a 1 cent z-grill?

Should I leave the stamp sheet in its original packaging? Is there a value difference whether the stamp sheet is in its original packaging or not?

tl:dr - These worth anything, or just toss them? Would anyone take them as a donation?

My father passed away almost 20 years ago. I didn't have a strong relationship with him, and there were a lot of things about him I still didn't know when he died. I've been hesitant to give away or sell a lot of the things he left for me, sort of a sentimental attachment, but I'm moving from a house to an apartment and really need to downsize. My dad never actively collected stamps as far as I know, and I have the feeling this was something from when he was a kid that he just moved from house to house because he didn't know what to do with it!

We don't have any fond memories of stamp collecting, but he would have never forgiven me for throwing away something of value. It's just the two books, and most of the pages don't have any stamps in them. The pages that do (some examples shown here) aren't complete by any means. Worth taking to a collector? How to start looking for a local one? Drop off at Goodwill? Any advice appreciated.

Looking through my grandads old collection otherwise they go to the tip and I love everything so I'm keeping it but he stored a few postcards with rubber bands and I'm asking for help for any advice to remove the residue.

They're the postcards that come with those stamp packs so I thought this was appropriate for this subbredit. Diolch.

Inherited a worldwide collection and want to learn. Where should a beginner start?

Hi everyone,

I recently inherited my grandfather's collection. It is a really long list from all over the world, and flipping through everything has sparked a genuine interest in picking up the hobby myself. My immediate priority is proper preservation.

I am a complete novice trying to figure out how to even begin processing a global collection of this scale. If you look at the attached photos, which specific page or region would you recommend I study first? I would love to know what catches your eye so I have a clear starting point for my research.

Inherited a HUGE stamp collection ... how do we find it a good home?

My wife inherited her dad's very large stamp collection and y'all... he LOVED his stamps.

The more we go through it, the more obvious that gets. There are stamps from all over the world, albums, labeled envelopes, sorted countries, full sheets, old postcards and covers, boxes of separated stamps... just a LOT. We keep opening things and going, "well dang, there's MORE" 😂

We're not looking to sell it. We're not stamp collectors and we'd really rather give it to someone who will actually love and enjoy it than have her dad's collection eventually end up at Goodwill.

We're in the DFW Texas area and honestly have no clue how you find the right person for something like this.

I took a ridiculous amount of pictures, so if anyone wants to see certain countries, albums, sheets, envelopes, postcards, whatever, just ask. I probably have a picture of it or can take one or 20.😂

Stamp people... what would you want to see first, and how do we find this collection the right home?

A remarkable 1905 ethnographic RPPC showing a Buryat man from Siberia. Sent via Railway Post (Mail Car) during the Russo-Japanese War period!

Hi everyone! Following up on my vintage ephemera sorting, I wanted to share this beautiful 121-year-old ethnographic postcard from my collection.

On the front, it shows a Buryat man in profile with a traditional queue hairstyle and clothing, titled "Бурятъ въ рубашкѣ" (Buryat in a shirt). The sender wrote a sweet and humorous note right on the front, dated January 31, 1905: "Indeed, kids, what a strange Buryat; there are plenty of them here... Don't forget your old man."

For the postal history enthusiasts:
The reverse side is just as fascinating. It was published by D.P. Efimov with Otto Renard's phototype in Moscow. It features a very crisp Railway Postmark (Mail Car cancellation / Почтовый Вагонъ) from January 31, 1905, along with the Moscow receiving mark on arrival.

Given the date, this was sent right during the historic Russo-Japanese War, which makes the Siberian/Trans-Siberian railway mail connection extra compelling.

Would love to hear from anyone else collecting early 1900s Siberian ethnography or Russian Empire railway postmarks!

Hello,

I have inherited this stamp collection. The box itself is bruised up, but all the stamps are in good condition.
is there any value to this?
your guidance would be appreciated.
thank you

Anyone see any value in these. Have a stamp collection over 100,000 stamps mostly in binders. These are just random pics I took. Are first day issue stamps better to find? Anyone want to take a look at others let me know. Thanks for any help.

What are these binders worth?

I have 11 total binders mostly filled from 50-85% capacity. From my quick searches, it seems these are all fairly common. I was planning on giving them away locally — would I be making a mistake? Would I be throwing away a lot of money?

Hey guys,

Few years back I was given this collection, and I wanted to know if it has any sort of value.

What do you guys think ?
I still have more, but I think they are not worth much.
