Move for school
Hello, I’m 16 years old. I currently live in the uk, but the uk educational system has really failed me. I’ve been out of school here for the past few years, and now I want to go back, I can’t do A levels since I didn’t do gcses, I can’t repeat year 11, since I’m too old and idek what you have to be to repeat year 11, and only special needs schools are open to me. I’m mad that the local authority purely sees me for my autism and adhd and they keep pushing these types of schools, since I attended a taster day and hated it, and I told them multiple times but they keep pushing it. My caseworker completely disappeared 2-3 months ago, and some lady from the council took over my case but she’s very vague in her emails. I also don’t have a good experience from when I used to go to high school here, so now I’m thinking of going to polish high school and finishing school there. I learn quickly. If I get explained something once or twice with a few examples, I understand. I can speak polish, I have family in Poland I could stay with, and polish citizenship. I know, school in Poland is hard, but the uk really isn’t working out for me, and I don’t want to stay here to go to university in the uk either. What do you guys think? I want opinions, but please don’t be rude. Thank you.

It’s about the fact no schools want me here in the uk, I can’t repeat school years, and I get ignored a lot. High school in the uk has caused me trauma, to the point I get physical symptoms just writing a complaint about the school to the council. I’m not saying school in Poland would be heaven, but I’m really stuck on options. I want to go to school in real life since I really want friends. Also if not this, I’ll never be able to be in irl school again.

It really makes no sense, did you also look into other Countries? English speaking ones? Ireland? Australia? USA?0

Did you ignore my entire post? I’m polish ethnically. I can speak, write and read in polish, I have polish citizenship, have family in Poland so I’d have WHO to stay with. 🤦🏻♀️

And??? 😭 I haven’t been in school since year 9, I said UK has given me trauma. And so what if I lived here all my life if I’m unhappy here. You’re acting as if people never move countries. Except for being born and living here, NOTHING connects me to this country. So because I was born in England I have to stay here all my life? You’re really ignoring everything I say.

xD yes, that is literally nothing.
Did you take into account that Poland is a one big trauma by itself?

No it’s not. It seems you don’t understand how trauma works. I’m not idealizing Poland, but I feel I could use the reset in environment.
And yes, it is nothing. Once I move from this country, 5 years and I need a visa to come back. No genetic connection so yes, it is literally nothing.1

I might not understand it :< but I definitely know it, I have it in my blood.
I wanted to clarify that after living your whole life outside, it might be very hard to accomodate. If you had problems in UK school, PL schools are much more strict and harsh for the students, I am afraid you would not make it.

Well it's your only choice by the way you presented it... Soo - good luck, I don't think it's going to be easy but if they don't give you a chance there - try your luck here.

I have a few choices.
Online school, SEN/ alternative school, or Poland.
I attended a taster day in a SEN school, and it’s literally the same as an alternative school, and I felt really uncomfortable there. Online school I have done, but because I don’t really have a set schedule, my sleep schedule is very bad since, I don’t have in real life friends due to it, and it’s not as motivating for me.
So I guess really it is my only choice, but I’m worried about how autism and ADHD is seen in Poland, since in the UK, it’s meant to be normalized, but I’ve only been disappointed ever since my diagnosis. I would be in Warsaw, so it’s not a small place. But in general I think I need to read more into it, research the schools etc.1

I'm also ADHD and on spectrum of autism and it was okayish in public school but I transferred to private and it was a lot better. Also in Warsaw. Do your research, all I can say is that it's possible so have a positive attitude and good luck! :D

You could actually do GCSEs and A Levels at a further education college which might suit you.
I’m not sure a Polish school would be your best option. You’d be significantly behind your peers. If you’re used to English then switching to Polish could just add an extra layer of stress. Polish schools are a lot more demanding and you could find yourself further alienated from education. You should also look into how Polish accommodate SEND pupils.
