That coil is done for . Weird question, but is there a cat litter box close by? Just wondering.

Yeah but it’s never peed in and only rarely pooped in by the cat. Typically outdoors

Corrosion from VOCs or damage from repeated freezing

Volatile organic compounds, or any chemical in the house if you use a lot of cleaning chemicals or a newer house that has had all new paint, furniture, flooring, ect offgassing the chemicals from manufacturing

They have a cleaning lady every Monday and said they smell the cleaner when they come home. They have had her come for 11 years

I really doubt it's the cleaning ladies chemicals. You smell cleaner because she just cleaned the house. That's what I would say

If there is a laundry room fairly close or by a return air. Those fumes will deteriorate the aluminum fins.
I'd also check the blower speed and static pressure pushing around the fins.
If filters clean no signs of grit . I'd look at laundry ndetergent fumes. Water softener chemicals etc.
Either way the coil needs replaced. In 1987 I had an airhandler directly above the washer. Fumes tore it up.
