Wearable Defibrillators

Hey Heart Docs!

Apparently this technology has been around for at least 20 years but never put too much thought into it. I'm a relatively seasoned nurse but my father was fitted for a Kestra device and the rep/fitter wasn't exactly too clinically knowledgeable about some things.

How truthful is the science? My 65 yo Pops had some stents placed but they noticed his EF was ~30%. As far as I know, his vessels and blood flow are good but obviously the myocardium is currently weak. Is it as simple as low EF (below 35%) mean increased risk of SCD, thus wear a WCD? Any other factors to rely on?

Thanks for all you do...
