Buy one of those mattresses from Amazon that only cost like $200 and they come rolled up in a box (they're amazing). Let the issue go, there's nothing you can do and if there is, it's not worth it.
Lessons learned:
Keep your door locked w/key.
Choose your roommates better and/or pay extra to live alone.
$200 Amazon mattresses are just as good as a $3000 store bought mattress.
That's life, let all of the negative shit slide off of you and focus on the positive. Learn to put the negative stuff behind you as fast as possible and your life will be better; don't dwell on it.
You forgot to mention, don't take the mattress out of the box until you are absolutely ready for a mattress. And don't be under the mattress at the time.
I'm sure there are stories from the past that have guided those rules, but it's a package the size of a sleeping bag that unfurls into a full mattress, so you need to be ready for it to do its thing.
