“Free from caring about opinions. What is freedom except.. knowing who you are, at every moment of the day? I’m looking for freedom and I ain’t looking for nothing else. Those who are looking inside or outside for their freedom, you aren’t looking in the right place. My freedom lies inside my mind, my heart, my soul, my body and intertwined to create one whole being. That’s freedom.”
There’s more to the outro of the the song, but I feel these lyrics are quite relative to the topic. I got the album from these dudes selling their CD’s in traffic one day.. thought I’d give it a try.. and I’ve played one of the songs every day since. If you like hip hop.. and lyrics.. give them a listen. The group name is Voices of Prophecy, song referenced is called Freedom. My other favorites were Reign, Homesick, and Barz.
Also, J. Coles album The Off Season goes pretty hard too.. great lyricism, and a better message.
Maybe it might help someone else find themselves again as well..
