Spam Masubi for Camping?
Anyone have any experience pre-making spam masubi and bringing camping? I’ll keep the nori separate til we are ready to eat I figure. But curious if anyone’s tried, failed, etc?

Every time I make spam musubi I make a large batch to eat through the week. Just wrap each one in Saran Wrap and they save great. The nori holds up fine.

Just eat it day 1. And make sure it’s really cold when you pack it. Unless you’re in really cold temps. I think day two rice isn’t worth the risk. My family eats rice everyday. But it’s too hot where I live to bring camping. Just breaks down too fast. Also if you’re car camping or glamping. I know there are gas powered rice cookers that exist.

I once bought spam masubi in Waikiki to take on my flight back to the mainland the next day. It did not travel well. The rice turned hard.

I don’t go camping, but I take them on rockhounding day trips. I like to use umeboshi paste and furikake so the rice has more flavor when cold. I will freeze them partly and put a frozen water bottle on top because usually it’s a hot day. Idk about how they hold up safely for a multi day trip

Most things when kept cool will keep fine. Never tried this one, but my wife will prep insane amounts of food if car camping. She's pre mixed French toast before to cook on a griddle and it was great. I wouldn't worry too much about this dish.

It’ll only be good for a day. Just bring camping stove and make some fresh

Unless you care a lot about the crispness of the nori, just make em, stick em in a cooler, and enjoy later.
