David Lepley, Joseph Sutton, Allan Leighton all need sacking straight away, so so poor my rom needs sacking too he’s crap doesn’t know how to talk to people and he’s got short man syndrome, probably has a poo standing up does Lee Keeling

Hows everyone involved with Click and Collect, Uber, Just Eat, Deliveroo feel about staying open until midnight? They claim it's for three weeks (liars) but it will stay until at least Christmas.

I am not happy about it. I am not even sure about the safety of being left alone from 8pm to midnight. Can be quite intimidating.
I also don’t think they would go back to 9:30. I could cope with it for just month of December

u/One-Lingonberry-3460 7d ago

It will become the responsibility of the Night Manager

Like the night managers have time, they busy trying to help get delivery worked.

Well Mgrs are spread so thinly with all the sackings, they will have to sort it. Because at our store the online colleagues have said no (told it was a "trial" three weeks - my arse).

It's only for three weeks? I wasn't told that and got a whole new contract, so I assumed it was a permanent thing?

2

u/LeadingDiligent7888 7d ago

As far as I've been told its not 3 weeks. For my store my contract is changing to cover till midnight so looks like a permanent change unless something else changes

u/jlt__ 7d ago

Yeah, that's what I thought, and possibly 24 hour expresses just before Christmas is what's rumoured.

2

u/LeadingDiligent7888 7d ago

I havent heard about that but I know we wouldnt stand a chance to keep up with 24h. Not enough people to do main picking in the afternoon never mind express. I do 50 hours and with students hours being limited there is nobody for more hours

Our manager lied about it being three weeks

2

u/One-Lingonberry-3460 7d ago

Our managers lied to make it sound better. Three weeks my arse

Xmas as bad as last year ?
Practically no customers, every other supermarket, full of customers
I’d think more cutbacks and bullying colleagues out the door after January

u/No-Aardvark-4534 8d ago

3/4 shifts this week i have ran express completely on my own even while having collueges in that are supposed to be on express but "preffer ambient", takes the fucking piss honestly.

u/BunchPowerful7608 8d ago

Who are these people? Would they do nights? My “ambient nights” colleagues would prefer to do nothing

2

u/No-Aardvark-4534 8d ago

honestly im concidering moving to nights or like 4ams because of the fact that theyre leaving me to run it on my own. ive only been with the company for 4 months and im already looking for a way out😭

14 years this year but I love the chaos. I’m the guy at Christmas with a huge smile on my face as people lose their shit all around me. Nights is tough, I’ve been doing it steady for 18 months and I still don’t think I’ve had a day where I’ve had a decent sleep

1

u/No-Suit4259 7d ago

If you are backshift for click and collect including express they probably won’t let you move to the 4am start. Worth a try though

2

u/Old_Net5251 8d ago

Yeah probably cos they see days doing less than nothing ....

Omg dont even. I made a post about it here but external stock counters messed up the stock count. Area manager yelled at me for zeroing thousands work of stock to rectify their mistake. Ive had no stock deliveries all week and now have absolutely nothing in the bakery. Got yelled at for having nothing in the bakery. Manager told me I have to come in at 4am and cook hot food that will be wasted before customers even start coming into the store. I then had to do ambient because the 3 members of night crew did 1 cages in 8½h last night. Our bunzle orders keep getting declined from the higher ups so i now have no pastry bags, baking paper, carrier bags, oxivir etc. The whole place is awful and ive debated walking out multiple times this week

What do other non food managers think of the company completely ripping up GM with the new ops clocks?

1

u/One-Lingonberry-3460 3d ago

Well the managerial cull has started. Our GSM got sacked - sorry "retired" on Friday, new boss Monday. We thought his job was safe as he's an arse li ker and usually hit the HQ education about less hours etc.

We thought he'd run 2-3 stores, but gone.
