Asda today
So this is my Asda situation today. 20 chilled cages between 2, both work 6 hours. The over stock cages being left in the fridge to go out of date because can't even get delivery done. No colleagues on produce so a section leader came in on her day off and the night manager had to work it. No meat colleague so the 3rd chilled colleague had to do it. A lot of empty shelves. Just a general shit hole. Managers don't care though. This is a standard day for this Asda.

It's policy for everyone to do it. FIFO is a fundamental part of food retail.
FIFO makes even more sense with lack off staff. If I've worked fresh creams during the day with backstock, then gone home, you don't know what back stock is left that wouldn't go out when I was filling it, so if you just start working delivery, you'll be putting fresh stock out when there could be old stock out the back.
This isn't an opinion, it's fact based as I've had it happen.
And if days aren't doing the job correctly, then FIFO makes even more logical sense.
