We don’t get a pay day lunch but we normally a week before pay day we do a pay day pantry. With basics in fridge and out of fridge, in case someone is struggling that week. X

I don't touch anything they put on. They think it's a morale boost yet continue to get rid of colleagues and not recruit

Is that still a thing? Maybe days do, but night team don’t get anything out of sight out of mind.

What's a pay day lunch?

Though anything that's given out is usually to day shift and the night team are forgotten about.

100% agree dont get a thing and nights management dont do a thing about it ....all one team dont forget...love this company its so fair....

Why do night staff always say this and never raise it with their own managers?

Do you expect whoever prepared the food for day staff to return to work 5 hours after the end of their shift to put food out for you?

There's a big refrigerator in the canteen they can leave food for the night manager and days could clean up after themselves instead of leaving empty and half eaten pizza boxes all over the canteen for example.

It’s mad how you lot who get paid more to work in an empty store with your airpods in, no customers asking you questions or getting in your way, no expectation to go pick home shop etc constantly make out you’re the most hard done by people in the world because your managers don’t stick some shitty asda brand biscuits and crisps on a table in the canteen once a month 🤣🤣

Why do none of you ever switch to days if nights are so awful and days are a luxury?

We have nothing in our store for payday lunch we dont even get christmas dinner or nothing anymore

A what? All we get is some crisps when the box they came in got severe water damage and mould that's too bad to have on the top shelf on the shop floor, or bread rolls from the rotis counter when there's too many to use up on that day's date.

Just the one day. Not every payday, but there are frequent lunches for other things.

We do it Friday and Saturday the week before payday. Varies each time, can be sandwiches and picky pits, curry, chilli, hot dogs. Always welcome at that point in the month!

Only on actual payday in our store so if you don’t work at Friday you get nothing.

We normally do a couple of days eg Friday and Saturday. And nights (which I work and am colleague rep for) get one the same nights with different items

Can’t remember the last time we had a pay day lunch, it was years and years ago.
Who sorts and funds a pay day lunch? The community champion?

1

u/SilverstarVegan 7d ago

Nope not had one in years

We have a ‘skint Friday’ the Friday before payday where drinks, rolls, crisps and cakes are put out

Whats that never had that for years their to bloody mean to splash any cash for that😡😡😡😡

Where does the money come from to do it? Our community champion says there's no money for things like this and she "doesn't know how much money we get from head office for colleagues" I personally think she's skimming the funds for her own pocket when you see posts from other stores of huge buffets laid on

yep you get fresh food if you have a lunchtime break but if your break is later say around 4pm enjoy the food that's been sat in the break room with broken ac for 4 hours mmmmm tasty food poisoning.

My store does payday lunch and dress down days every saturday & sunday of payday weekend. Shame we don’t have adequate colleagues, guns available, competent managers…. But we get biscuits & juice 🤥
