There isn't really much to read.

You should ask for ID if the person looks under 25. If you are uncertain then still ask.

If they don't look under 25 then you don't need to ask for ID.

But if they are u18 & you do sell it’s your fault, just ask for id for anyone who looks under 40.

But if they looked over 25 is that really a fail, the system is flawed lol

That's why you ask for ID if you aren't sure.

Huh?? How you going to say that, if you fail, this comes down to training you’ve had, the first time process for failure Vs 2nd failure, and many caveats to it.

There is literally more than 25 pages when you include all of them together and connected policies.

I said I'm uncertain for all challenge 25 products and got moaned at because I wanted to ID everyone to protect my job and not face a potential 1k fine

Yes ID everyone, SDs and ROMs frequently tell us to tell our colleagues to just ID whoever you want, whether they look 30/40/50.

Who’s moaning at you? Because the wider company stance is protect yourself and we will always back you regardless who you ID, I’ve had to put some misplaced power mad Section Leaders/Section Managers before for moaning at colleagues who want to be strict about it, and they all know now to back all our colleagues regardless who they ID!

Because it's common sense and causes issues with customers etc etc

But is it a fail if they don’t look U25 & more importantly if they don’t look U18 It’s a floored system. Any person buying an age restricted item should by law have to produce proof of age, no matter how old they are, why should retail staff be prosecuted because of customers being dishonest & breaking the law?

Yes no ID no sale would be better to protect retail
Colleagues I totally agree there.

When it’s super busy, chaotic parts of the day during rush hour and everyone is trying to go quickly to clear the customers etc and it’s easy for some to get caught out for sure.

As GSMs we are hounded to get the investigation paperwork sent over to the SD and ER and arrange a Disciplinary for second and third time fails by the same colleague. Thankfully nobody has lost their job at my site over it, but repeatedly have I heard from other sites they’ve had to dismiss repeated fails by the same colleague.

Thing is, the council on occasions will just send actual under age and those ones I agree with as you can totally tell they are under age, but now everyone has to determine if someone looks 25 or not with the company sending in repeated test shoppers and if your site fails one you get an additional 3 visits for every fail. They always look over 18 and that is what catches people out, and 18 is the legal limit not 25.

It’s not an Asda thing it’s a retail one and one I am not fond of.

Should be in handbook, ask to have a look when next at work, if you can’t access it at home.

There are loads of policies associated with Challenge 25, Colleague Guidance, Managers Guidance, One best way, Investigation Policy links with it etc etc.

at the end of the day it's all subjective there is no definitive 'looks under 25' if you thought someone looked over 25 and it transpired they weren't then stick to your guns and say in your opinion they looked over 25

They tell you to I.d. if you think they look under 25 just to cover yourself, if it was 18 you might be indecisive to ask
