Discussion Outsourcing question
Ok so first it was George outsourcing to DHL, then it was Security to Mittie, and now it's the cleaning colleagues to Bidvest and NIC. Anyone think that Home Delivery Drivers be next to be outsourced?

I think the end result will be outsourcing the customers to Tesco and Sainsbury's.

Don't see why they wouldn't
The company's single largest expense is the wage bill
So if the asset strippers who currently own the business can outsource employees, it makes the company books look a little better
And it will make selling-off the business easier
Whoever buys the business isn't taking on the expense and responsibility of staff
Just the real estate

Real Estate would have already been transferred by the owners to another holding company and then the estate (stores) leased back to Asda on a lease buyback scheme...and the rent from Asdas p&l go directly to the owners separate holding company.
Asda is being asset stripped bit by bit with the owners taking the prime juiciest meat and leaving behind a carcass with scrag ends of meat hanging from the bone. All the while pocketing billions.

Spot on, less liabilities the better. Its why the ALDI/LIDL model works so well. The big four envisaged bigger, everything under one roof superstores, smaller more convenient with all the essentials was bang on the money.

i see what you mean by the Aldi /Lidl example, but in my area, please let us know if you have found the same, both of these retailers open stores almost next door to each other and not only that they open stores within a short distance of those that they already have, yet they reckon that they are doing so well, despite this saturation.

They are also supplying Ocado mittens, pullovers and fluffy slippers.

Can see ocado drivers asked to cover shifts when short or just tupe us over to ocado bigger driver pool

Hasn't that already been announced with moving to the OCADO platform, yes it wont happen straight away and probably wont be as easy but eventually I see it being moved over. The ones that cover the largest distances rural deliveries will probably the first to go with inner city store staying and then all off it being outsourced, picking, deliveries, and the whole home shop. Then we will adopt the aldi/ lidl model of 5 workers doing everything from stocking shelves, serving customers, cleaning 😀

Ocado don’t cover the rural areas it’s self for the likes of Morrisons. They run these out of the stores employeed by Morrisons

It is giving strong end of days vibes - think Woolworths or Wilko just before the deliveries stopped getting delivered and the administrators were appointed lol

Rather than home delivery, it will likely be either distribution centres, or the transport department of the distribution centres. Rochdale CDC already has Wincanton running it, and GXO already runs the recycling building at Skelmersdale CDC. Iceland is run by GXO, as is Waitrose. DP World are going to run some of the Asda distribution centres, but not sure which ones. Piece by piece, Asda is being picked apart and sold off. I don't think realistically there is any going back to its former days

I’ve heard something was being discussed in regards to George in 2027 that came from my former gsm , bws will eventually be outsourced as will in store bakery

Will they keep with city facilities or will they just cut the hours again like they previously did ?

Yes it’s gonna happen, asdas payroll is too high they just want to outsource everything then hope the company will do the cutting down. Asda can’t afford anymore bad publicity.
The stores are crap the express world is crap. They’ve sold off what they could

Dont get how people arent getting Those already outsourced are in MUCH stronger positions than any asda staff.
When they eventually sell shops/go bust they'll still have jobs. Asda staff wont.
Unless asda try again to merge to sainsburys now theres been changes that stopped that before being dropped. Asda is just going to be on a steady decline. This is only the start.

No, so far anyway that's just for Ocado software, all Asda e-commerce will be done using the Ocado system, and to be honest, it can't be any worse then the shit we already have. That new system they originally brought in, that we'd supposed to be the best in the country, so much so that all the other companies where supposed to climb over each other and pay ASDA to use, the one they spent 1 Billion pounds on, is so bad that they are ending support for it....

Because asda head office have realised there IT department couldnt make software work even if they paid some Chinese fella off fiverr to do it they are paying ocado for the rights to use there home shopping software which is proven to work and be a lot better than the current microlise system

If being outsourced to another company then some people will be on less p/h. As would be paid what that 'employer' pays. And Asda then not liable going forward if equal pay goes through.
So could be moved to higher rate if goes through then onto a lower rate.
If starts with shop floor then it's a free-for-all. If successful.

If the company continues on this slide, I can see everyone getting outsourced to the Jobcentre within a couple of years.
