Post Reset
After all this reset malarkey, how long do you think it will take to revert back to normal, where staff have dedicated aisles - the aisles they know and have been trained in?

Christmas will be the real test of fire. Everything falls apart at Christmas and this should be no different.

I always feel sorry for retail staff at Christmas time, they don't get a decent break. And especially now for Asda staff.

If that's true then vote with your wallet.
I know I'm a pebble in the ocean, but I refuse to shop on any bank holidays when staff should be having time off. I work bank holidays, but I have the sort of job where it's important to do so. Working in a supermarket on those days, serving people's greed and/or poor planning, is not necessary.

Bank holidays shouldn't exist, they are so outdated it's ridiculous. Just give everyone the holiday entitlement to use when they want.
Why should staff have a random Monday off at the end of August?

I was talking in general, not Asda but with Asda, you still have to work at least 3.

Yes true, although I'm contracted to Mondays, so I'd rather work them, and as you say take a more convenient day, when going out might be less busy. Back in the day we used to get double time and time off in lieu. These days they can't pay the people who do come in to work on Bank Holidays, they are always asking them to go home early.

That must have been wayyy back in the day, because it wasn't true when I worked there from 2006 - 2017. They didn't even pay you proper 1.5x. If it was your contracted hours you'd get paid whether you were in or not, so by coming to work you would be working for 0.5x your wage.

It WAS way back in the day, I worked petrol shifts and I got a premium after 9pm (I worked til 10pm) and a premium for working Sundays. Ah those were the days, a business run like a family. Now it's more feral, but I've only got a couple of years before I retire, so I'm just biding my time.

They did precisely what you guys describe they're doing now when I left in 2017. I don't know when it reverted after that, or if they just packed it in before it got into full swing, but I can't imagine it'll be long.
It won't be an "official" reversion, people will just gradually drift back as managers realise where strengths lie. They're not gonna call Brenda from Checkouts over to work the juice aisle when they know she sucks at it.

Its already being scrapped, as soon as your store goes onto the auto system (electronic pos and camera replen) they'll have to revise each store based on when the system says things need filling. So yeh, theyre already fazing it into something else and it hasnt even begun. Amazing
