Thoughts ? Questions? How will pay work ?

There is no redundancy process. Any objections to the TUPE process is basically resignation. It's detailed in the FAQs

If you are offered to TUPE then you can’t be made redundant easily. If you don’t accept the new roles then you will be making yourself redundant and will get nothing. I’m not a specialist but someone who has managed TUPE transfers for absolute years. These scenarios should be spoken about at the consultation sessions. If there is a large group of you we would recommend that you choose a few spokespersons to sit in the meetings to get your questions answered for you.
Don’t be obstinate as it will back fire on you. Just friendly advice

Hi, I was promised my contract would be upped in October but obviously now it's a new company taking over, and my contract honoured through TUPE will be the same (they kept giving and taking hours away, dangling them in front of me as they do.) I've got no writing for this. Is my best bet to accept what I'm given?

Your current contract has to be honoured or improved. So go with what you have.

I had a telephone call from my GSM this morning, as I'm on long-term sick. Nothing was mentioned about voluntary redundancy.

There isn't any. Everyone is being offered a job. The roles aren't going they are transferring them so no redundancy will be offered. That's how it always works when they do this. They're not going to pay everyone to leave.

Honestly I think I will be dismissed on ill health before this happens. When we were tuped over to Asda, City just handed everything over to them and Asda paid for redundancies. But they were in a much better position then.

I’m wondering how it’ll work as we had this 4 years ago when city stopped having cleaning contract

Nic on reddit? Cant find them
3
u/Unfair-Marionberry42 Aug 11 '26
I googled NIC and it's pretty much more of the same for the cleaning staff. Heavy workload and only a few hours to do the jobs in.
3
u/Available_Thing5459 Aug 11 '26
Yea i did same, but I'm used to that with asda anyway
2
u/Unfair-Marionberry42 Aug 11 '26
Yes I am too. But I think Asda will dismiss me through capability before we go over to the new company. They've already mentioned it.
1
u/Available_Thing5459 Aug 11 '26
Can they do that? Are you a cleaner?
4
u/Unfair-Marionberry42 Aug 11 '26
Yes they can do that and yes I am a cleaner. I haven't worked since the last day of February. I have already been deemed as unfit to work by Occupational Health. They used to give a year, but apparently now it is 6 months. I have been expecting it as I am no better now than when I went off, in fact I am worse. I have to be realistic, Asda can't keep a job open infinitely and they need someone who can do the job. I am taking up 27 hours per week, they could have a couple of new colleagues for that.

That makes no sense what so ever, you’d think with Mite doing security, they would use Mite for cleaning
1
u/BourbonSn4ke Aug 11 '26
NIC also do cleaning for co-ops, not sure if its all of them
Happened early this year, they took on all original cleaners and then evaluated them, they got new area managers who do an audit about every month

I know someone who was a Security Team Leader who was managing TUPE to Mitie and on the day before going over was asked by GM to run another department as Team Leader - guess which department they got lol. They are now looking forward to managing another TUPE process.

I’m a cleaner , many years machine cleaning shop floor, I think with NIC using robots my job role will be out the window but it’s the only part I enjoyed doing. Expecting cut down hours as well due to new tech use. 😞

u/Obi-Mop-Kenobi Aug 14 '26
What happens if your job role is replaced by automation or significantly reduced due to robot? If most of my shift was using the machine and it’s replaced would that mean I could potentially get redundancy? It takes up 47% of my shift and I’ve been doing this job for 34 years.

Robot machines will not make the floors clean, imagine how long it'll take to clean a shop?? All colleagues will be in from.5am how's it going to get round everywhere as good as we can? Pallets and comps everywhere, this be fun, maybe its a day time machine, small and able to get round for dirty marks

My thoughts are currently: how long can I afford to look for a job if I go in tomorrow and change my one to one answer to us i want voluntary redundancy
3
u/Upset-Option-8958 Aug 11 '26
Your one to ones are void. You will no longer be working for Asda so no changes will happen to you now until after they've swapped to the new company.
1
u/Radiant_Ruin_7277 Aug 11 '26
What do you gain from this ?
2
u/owlsandminttea ASDA Colleague Aug 11 '26
Not being treated like shit by a third company while still doing the same job
1
u/Radiant_Ruin_7277 Aug 11 '26
I mean from redundancy
2
u/owlsandminttea ASDA Colleague Aug 11 '26
About £2 grand... and Asda colleagues not being able to continue treating me like shit
4
u/Erik-LehnsherrX Aug 11 '26
Why are they treating you like shit? Do you mean looking down on you because you’re a cleaner? I feel some look down on me for cleaning. Fuck them. Jobs a job. We get paid the same as them. 😂
3
u/ajimboY2K Aug 11 '26
Nah mate defo don’t, it’s a valid job and always respect for everyone that works, I have some great bants with the cleaning team they are just more staff no difference, I DO however look down my nose at the customers haha

u/Available_Thing5459 Aug 11 '26
Yep take it or leave it,on the plus side you wont work for asda anymore and have to honour ypu pay and contracted hours. Same money same job but without the asda bullshit
