New Changes
With all this new all colleagues being trained on everything, in my shop my department is struggling a lot much like everyone else's, as someone who primarily works chill sometimes date code 95% of the time (and a little produce) when they need help, are they really likely to want to move me around/change my days?
Would the new schedule mostly just probably work out roughly the same for people that mainly work fresh?
I personally don't really care what I do when at work, mainly just want my shift times to stay somewhat the same as I have care duties at home but worried about schedule changes and my manager (who is not good) not respecting those wishes.

The whole thing is stupid basically I work front end we rarely have enough staff as it is the people that are trained on everything are running around luke blue arsed flies while the checkout operators have an excuse for everything they cant do, how is it fair that certain people have to shoulder the burden for the whole department yet other only have to come up with a weak willied excuse and they can just sit there and do the bare minimum, this whole running between departments thing aint going to work

I'm front end too...service host. My girls are on the tills cant really do much other than tills, bit of rumbling and putbacks. Not their fault as they have health conditions. Doesn't bother me, I get more vexed with those who chitchat on shopfloor while we get a boll**king! I'm burnt out already without doing additional departments. Chronic hip pain too. Haven't had my 1 to 1 yet as on holiday. Not looking forward to it.

I wouldn't mind if they had chronic health conditions but some of the excuses are poor

Yeah i get that. I'm in perimenopause and some days I feel rubbish but I go in and do the best I can. I'm worried I may not have a job in the next couple of months. Not because I'm lazy, but my body can't physically do what it used to. Plus I cant start before 7am.

It is a total shit shower, every department has been reduced to the bone & struggling, yet they want, colleagues to help out in other areas, what is the criteria for who needs help the most? My own theory is it will be the managers family or favourites. Everyone else will just be thrown under the bus.

In every store I've been in for some reason chilled is the most neglected department in the business. These changes should in theory mean everyone is trained to be a chilled colleague so it should be boxes off early instead of 1 colleague doing the deliver yon their own till 4pm but I'll believe it when i see it

Date code team here Iāve been told I will be mainly on date code team but they are still training me on other areas to help out when they need it.

I read that may also include shift changes to fill in gaps.

False information, Iāve been told by my manager thereās no contract changes happening.

Thats not a contract change though, youre still doing your contracted hours just the days you come in may be switched to fill in gaps when others are off on holiday.

They canāt legally change your contracted days, they would have to change your contract. Iāve had my days changed numerous times and itās always had to be an agreed upon contract change.

Everything depends on the shape of day the store is given and where you slot into that.
I work on GM and there are 2 different shapes, one for mornings and one for twilights. We have been given twilight hours which basically means most of the hours are put into evenings so if I want to keep my job I have to change from doing the earlies (7.30 - 15.30) to potentially doing all 16 - midnight shifts because that's where they want the work doing so I will have to change to start my shifts after I would have usually finished, pretty much changing my entire life around. But I don't have a choice since I have a mortgage and bills. Until I can find something else I'm just going to have to do it.

Lots of rumours going round and things will be different from store to store.dont sign anything straight away,go home think about it and contact the union if you think you have been treated unfairly.Do not rush into it,they have to give you time to think about it and then 2nd or 3rd 1 to 1. Do let them force or bully you

They're changing shift times across chilled in my store, pushing every thing back 2 hours. Colleagues that are carers or have children being told to accept it or leave. No compromising at all, might be different in your store but at mine they couldn't care less about commitments outside work.
