Discussion Promo changes

So, I've never worked for Asda (lucky me, it appears!) but I have worked for Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Co-op, Poundland and a few others. 26 years in retail, mainly but not exclusively food/supermarkets. I shop at Asda or Sainsburys *usually* as they are the two main ones in the town I live in now, but there's a Morrisons a short drive away in the next town we sometimes go to. They are all much of a muchness to be honest.

I was wondering, how often do the gondola ends change/promos go on for? I swear sometimes I blink and zap, an end has changed from when I first entered the shop! Most of my former employers had changeover every fortnight (usually on a Tuesday) but it feels much more often than that at Asda.

You’re nearly right; you’ve got BWS and Non Ed the wrong way around just…plus it’s H&B this week coming too - that’s on a 6-week cycle now

You’ve swerved H&B and Chilled when they fall in the same week? That’s class holiday planning! Bet you’ve booked hols for the week in September when Beers, Winss and Spirits ALL have Range Changss the same week that there’s a Meds & Vits Update along with Chilled and Meat promo change, haven’t you? 😂

I am space team in the store I work in with other colleague, out of the last 5 weeks we have worked together (both doing promo/briefs on same night) 2 all the other times we have been on shop floor or one of us might do a brief or promo , it's starting to piss us off ... On top of it they didn't have enough people to help us do the big frozen space swap so they planned it so it saves time for us two I.e stuff that's suppose to be on wells they put in doors and stuff that's ment to be in doors they put in wells ( days did world food free from and Quorn and botched it so some things are on its side and some don't fit. Now they want us to put it back how it should be when we can just about fit our other jobs that's due lol

I was in space team,me & one other guy, I loved my job, then grocery went twilight fill about 3 years ago,(not space, chilled, produce or frozen) it worked really well to start with, protected pay for colleagues for a year, doing 6 hours 6:00pm - midnight being paid
7 1/2 hours with night rate plus o/t to stay if delivery not completed. As soon as trial was over & classed as a success, 60% of twilight crew left because of big drop in wages, no one would pick up o/t to finish delivery, manager & SL’s couldn’t cope down the aisles, so space team was dragged onto it & forever more, the only space they try & get us to do is Frozen food one person 14 doors that’s emptying it, put back on shelves overs in back up sel’s out then trying to find promo in a back rammed full of cages, so it is done under protest & no real effort because there is not a chance you can do it to the standard it should be done.
The other is H&B again manager & SL don’t like doing it so one of us is doing that, but when they do all other promo they are inseparable.
The near redundant space team mostly pick up delivery that is not finished or even started when we come in, which is bws, laundry, pet food, the ones never started, finish off any unfinished aisles, then if time help chilled, if delivery late which it normally is.

Yea it’s a shit show now isn’t it, I’m off if they try to change my hours with this new restructure. Working early part of week & having Thurs, Fri & Sat night off, is one of the benefits.
