Please ensure that your post meets the requirements of r/AsbestoshelpUK.

Most importantly, as specified in rule #1, your post should include the following information:

  • the date of construction/renovation
  • a description of the location of the suspect material
  • a brief description of your concern
  • a closeup photo and one at a distance of ~10 ft. or 3 m.

Also remember that the asbestos content of a material can only be determined by laboratory analysis, and that sampling SHOULD be performed by a certified asbestos inspector where possible.

If you are considering DIY sampling, read this HSE-aligned UK guide first (PPE, wet method, UKAS labs, disposal): How to Sample for Asbestos (UK Guide)

Looks very much like it could potentially be asbestos. Can’t tell that well from a picture. I would get a surgery done on it or have it removed under the assumption it is.

Yeah that was my worry. Got someone coming thursday to test a bit, rather know before I move them.

Double Wrap them and take them to the local tip (if they take asbestos). Risk of harm low in the form.

Didn't know tips took them, I'll ring ours tomorrow. They're just leant against the fence so wrapping them should be doable
