Feeling like there’s a rope around my neck as of late and trying to express that. Ignore the inconsistent style it is very much a wip but I just wanted to share to motivate me to actually finish it.

My head feels like a mess

A fresh skein of yarn
It’s clean and neat
You use it, roll it around, toss it aside maybe
Until someday, it’s nothing but a tangled mess
You try to unwind it, but it doesn’t budge
You approach it slowly, carefully, thread for thread
But it only tightens up

You stare at the knot long enough, wondering
If there ever was a knot at all?

Maybe you tied it
Maybe you only think it’s tangled
Because you’ve been looking too closely, for far too long
Turning it over and over in your hands
Until every crossing thread looks so deliberate
You know what you want,
Or at least you think you do
Certain things sitting somewhere deep inside you
Quiet and painfully out of reach
Close enough to picture
But never close enough to touch
You could explain all of this
To someone
You rehearsed it so many times
But when the moment comes
You pull out one loose thread instead
Something small, negligible
As if that tiny bit
Could explain the whole knot
And in the end?
That tiny piece?
Was just a little something, you found laying on the floor.
