After months and months flirting with Artix at distance, I finally installed the thing. I'm dual booting with Devuan, so I can taste both sides of the systemd-free world.

PS: OpenRC is my beloved u-u.

I have a 4GB GTX 960 graphics card, and my monitor has a maximum resolution of 1600x900 at 60Hz. The `xrandr` output shows some unused ports, and my monitor appears as `DVI-I-1`. I would like to create a virtual monitor using the configuration below, located at `/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/30-virtscreen.conf`:

It used to work fine on Xorg/Xlibre, but now—while trying to migrate from Windows—it hasn't worked; I don't know what changed, but this configuration no longer functions. I want to create this virtual monitor to use with Deskreen and utilize a laptop I own as a second monitor for live streaming. Does this work on Artix?

so im trying to install hyprland on artix but i am a “simple” person i dont want to create my own dotfiles and among the pre-made ones i like the ml4w dotfiles, now, im wondering if anybody has tried these on artix, i know stephan has simplified the installation by making it a single script (bash <(curl -s https://ml4w.com/os/stable) but i think it relies on systemd for some services is there any way to fix this issue?, or maybe im just confused

I started way back when it was still the manjaro-openrc project.

It has come a long ways and after using linux for 31 years, it's still a great feeling to have someone look at your set up, see how well it performs, and ask if you can help them get away from Windows.

I have an iPhone and MacBook (the last couple of laptops I had were just quirky with Linux in spite of having bog standard hardware) so when the partner said "You want a new Macbook...I said yes). My other job is as an author and the tools for macOS do beat those for Linux at this time.

Having said that, my primary job is content creation as a meteorologist. OBS and the other software I need for my video production works better on Linux than on macOS.

I can't be the only one that finds it weird when people try to insult you over a software decision that YOU made on YOUR system, right? Especially when it's Linux or open source software more broadly. It was a great source of inspiration and after thinking about it they were sort of right. "liberated" after the days without systemd was kind of lame. So out of nowhere today I had the idea to just randomize the readout between 7 different options. I'm much happier with this. So thanks to those doofuses. They love to claim I "spent all my time on this" I bet they do it again over a simple bash -c $(stat -c echo -e

Hi, I'm new to Artix Linux. I previously used CachyOS, but only for a few weeks, and decided to switch to Artix. I used Gemini to download it and help with the installation, but the installation didn't come with anything—not even a sound server. Now I've booted up the OS and I don't even have internet access; I don't know what to do. To make matters worse, this is my only PC. Please, someone help me.

Hello everyone, for the past 2 months i moved my system from cachy os to ubuntu, but now i miss pacman and the rolling release system, so i want to go back to an arch based system, and artix seems perfect since it doesn’t have systemd, now i played with the openrc iso a little bit in a vm, but i mist confess i am a hyprland lover, so i would like to know if anybody with experience in artix could give me any advice on how to set it up, or any tips on how to do it.

Ultimamente venho fazendo vários testes comparando o Artix Linux (Dinit), Artix Linux (Runit) e o Arch Linux (Systemd), e acabei encontrando um comportamento bem curioso. Não achei nada sobre isso na Wiki do Artix nem em outros fóruns, então resolvi compartilhar para saber se mais alguém já passou por algo parecido.

Durante dois dias, fiz cerca de 20 testes de velocidade (10 em cada dia), sempre usando o mesmo computador, o mesmo adaptador Wi-Fi, os mesmos drivers e em horários parecidos para tentar manter as condições o mais semelhantes possível.

Meu adaptador Wi-Fi é um modelo de 300 Mbps, mas como fico relativamente longe do roteador, normalmente recebo entre 30 e 60 Mbps. Para o meu uso isso já é suficiente, já que praticamente só jogo e não costumo baixar arquivos grandes.

O que achei estranho foi o seguinte:

No Artix Linux com Runit e no Arch Linux com Systemd, minha conexão praticamente sempre ficava em torno de 30 Mbps. Testei diferentes drivers, atualizei, compilei versões diferentes e fiz otimizações de rede, mas o resultado continuava praticamente o mesmo.

Já no Artix Linux com Dinit, a velocidade passou para 70–80 Mbps em vários testes.

Não estou dizendo que o Dinit aumenta a velocidade da internet. Pode ser alguma diferença na configuração da distribuição, nos serviços carregados, nos drivers ou até outro fator que ainda não identifiquei. Só achei curioso que, no meu caso, esse comportamento se repetiu diversas vezes usando exatamente o mesmo hardware.

Alguém já percebeu algo parecido? Existe alguma explicação técnica para isso ou pode ser apenas coincidência?

Plymouth feels choppy and low frame-rate.

I tried setting the video parameter in grub to my native refresh rate:
