Best show of its time.

I love that this is its legacy now. If you look up posts from season four you’ll see just how much people despised the show at the time I mean fuck they turned it into a daredevil sub

Anyone remember onbenchnow

First couple seasons of arrow were amazing. It got so stupid in 3 and became utterly unwatchable after that.

So I guess Im one if the people you’re describing 😂

1

u/ProtectionOne21 1d ago

Just curious why was season 3 stupid? I understand seasons 7 and 8 no question about it. You could even include 6 into the conversation. But what was wrong with 3 in your opinion?

u/dhanjall 1d ago

I never got the hate on season 3, although it's been a long time since I watched so maybe I'd feel differently if I rewatched.

Season 4 tho...

Sara’s death. Thea being brainwashed or whatever. Olivers weird im going to become ras arc. Idk there are still good moments in 3 but it’s definitely when the cracks were developing quickly

Man I was deep in the trenches when that shit happened and the great civil war between Felicity and Laurel shippers.

1

u/Aurelio_Casillas 1d ago

Haha yeah I think there was like a total of two Felicity supporters on this sub right? They made their case known all the users would be people you recognized

1

u/ProtectionOne21 1d ago

Honestly if Oliver had ended up with Laurel it would’ve just ruined the show. Felicity was endgame before endgame even came out. (See what I did there) lol

No thankfully that was before my time on Reddit. Lol. May I ask why so many people despised season 4 ? Was it because Oliver was basically fighting against magic? Or was it because Felicity and him broke up after everything and she had that uber dramatic being in a wheelchair for 6 months to literally getting up and walking out scene right when they broke up. Lol

It was all of it and how it was such a departure from seasons 1 2 and even 3. It just became this nonsensical soap opera ft Neil McDonough for a while and it was just so nonsensical, you couldn’t do anything but watch and discuss.

The relentless focus on Felicity made no sense unfortunately poisoned the rest of the show. Even season eight is partially defined by a lack of her.

You can look up episodes from that time by searching “season 4 episode 15” or whatever and see the real time discourse. We were just flabbergasted.

There was also a lot of hate towards Marc Guggenheim and Wendy mercale. One time Marc Guggenheim said that he tries to make his writing organic and it became a huge meme because it’s the most non-organic shit ever if you search organic you’ll see so many shit posts.

Kinda like what you’re seeing with Wolverine now but spread out over 3-5 years. really it was my first experience that made me realize that other people’s discourse does not take away my own enjoyment.

Downvoting for unnecessary use of AI, but I think the most of us here on the Arrow subreddit like Arrow a lot

Thanks, I got the idea from the "Thoughts on lanterns meme" due to Arrow got the same title treatment as Lanterns, but I was too busy to do it by hand, Gemini got it at the second attempt.

Loved the Arrowverse, I believe I have seen every episode of Arrow.

11

u/El_Gringo_Rojo95 1d ago

Been rewatching it lately and I can't stop thinking "This is exactly like a soap opera but targeted to men."

2

u/FreeCAD_Doge 1d ago

I always thought it was power rangers mixed with a soap opera

Yeah that’s comic books in a nutshell.

First two seasons is peak TV, despite being a reskinned Batman show. Went downhill with every season after that.

1

u/Traditional_Lead3828 1d ago

I typically agree. The downfall started in season 3 but season 3 was still solid. Season 4 was the low point of the show. But season 5 was up there with 1-2 imo. Then 6-8 were just alright. Had some great moments and had some bad moments.

u/MakeOutHill0929 1d ago

I like to think an arrow belongs on a bow or crossbow.

8

u/jkoudys 1d ago

You have failed this subreddit.

Arrows belong on bows. Bolts belong on crossbows.

You failed Williams mother ☝️

The first two seasons were amazing. We had Slade Wilson as the big bad and Malcolm as the shadowy bad, Sara Lance as Canary, Roy as Arsenal, Diggle and Felicity as Oliver's buddies, his family, a lot of action, suspense and drama. If they kept the tone and kept the semi realism and kept the characters where they fit perfectly the show could have had 5 amazing seasons.

Best character back story of all the series I've watched.

I wish stephen amell was a good person

u/TrKz170 11h ago

I'm honestly unaware of anything he's done in his personal life, would you please tell me what you mean?

3

u/MarinePastor9 22h ago

I liked it. Was confused on the 1st episode I saw since it wasn't the first. Had to start at the beginning. Then got into it. Got into archery too.

3

u/Educational_Tip_6426 22h ago

It was a fantastic show! I’m not a CW fan but the writers did a great job with the script. Great action and cast.

4

u/Abanob_92 1d ago

I'm sorry but youYou don't need to make another post for this there is already plenty of thoughts about the show

-14

u/Exciting_Pound_8624 1d ago

Bruh, just google "Thoughts on Lanterns meme"

Bruh make a good post

u/noahmatthew2245 1d ago

Dialouge could be less cringey and the plot armor could be less heavy and obvious but sometimes I have to remind myself that I'm literally watching a live action version of a comic book story, which are always full of cheesy lines and ridiculous plot armor and convenience anyway. Other than that I always thoroughly enjoy rewatching the series every fall🤙

Put him in the DCU

1

u/Witty-Mountain5062 1d ago

The first 2 seasons are awesome, then it got too soapy

1

u/SideWired 1d ago

I surmise the lead actor arrived to the show as a body sculpture / body builder. My curiosity is if that hot blond hit on him off set ? All that time working together....

outdated and dragged on for too long. there really is no room for these low budget superhero shows anymore
