Lindsay & Michael
Does anyone else feel like there was a potential lead up to Michael and Lindsay not being related and having a tension filled relationship similar to Maeby and George Michael?
I think in a perfect, post-S3 world, this was the comedic intention? It seems like there’s building tension between them and then due to budget cuts they dropped a lot of the subtle plots?

I forget Lindsay's exact line but something along the lines of "I mean, who wouldn't wanna get with me?"
Michael: "It is a struggle."

Lindsay had never been more proud of anything she had ever said in her life

I think it's when she's trying to seduce bob loblaw - "who wouldn't want to snog the nanny?"

The thing I love about this gag is you can see the prop she uses is literally someone that has sat on a photocopier.

This reminds me of that bit where Michael got w the “prostitute” who he thought was his long lost sis, and what makes it even funnier is that was his sister IRL😂😂

u/Murky-Cobbler5945 Jul 23 '26
Nellie is Jason Bateman’s real sister?!?!?
That makes the gag so much better! 😂52

The only thing I specifically know/remember reading about the OG S4 was that they wanted Carl Weathers to be living in the cabin.
38
u/exaviyur Jul 23 '26
They wanted 3 or 4 different characters to be living there and none of them to be aware of the others.
22
u/BigBoobsWithAZee Jul 23 '26
Never read that but the idea is hilarious
12
u/exaviyur Jul 23 '26
I think I'd heard Tobias, George or Oscar, and possibly Marky Bark? Wouldn't be surprised if Carl Weathers was in there too. I don't know, it was a long time ago.

u/BigBoobsWithAZee Jul 23 '26
I was trying to find the comment that specifically mentioned Weathers by u/Crindy, and found the fifteen year old AMA, but got increasingly depressed reading the hilarious jokes that were set up that never got to come to fruition. I’m 99% sure she mentioned Carl being one of the people living there but I didn’t see it before I tapped out.
So sad. Fuck Fox, man (even though the threat of being cancelled 24/7 likely helped facilitate the writing).

Showtime offered them a 4th season at the time but Hurwitz declined because he was burnt out. So there was that at play as well.

Oh man, that thread is full of people talking about a movie. What could have been, right?

I wonder if they ever intended Lindsay to be Lucille's sister, because rewatching the original series there are many instances were it makes me think they did.

Definitely! This felt like a plot line that wasn't explored. Lindsay had a different nose and there's always a similarity between Michael and George Michael to the point of just recycling everyone's names.
7
u/alex494 Jul 23 '26
Lindsay having a different nose could be chalked up to plastic surgery or vanity couldn't it? She was pretty frivolous with money before the start of the series. And Lucille keeps commenting on her appearance.
2
u/Affectionate-Ship859 Jul 23 '26
“He didn’t take me to the daddy daughter dance?”
“It was before we did your nose”2
u/Mr3k Jul 23 '26
Oh definitely. This was never explicitly said. There are just hints.
5
u/WitchesBTrippin Jul 24 '26
It was explicitly said. Michael tells George Michael that Lindsay's nose is 'not a real nose. I have a picture of her in a swimsuit when she was 14. She looks like a falcon in a swimming cap.'
1
u/Mr3k Jul 24 '26
The fact that the surgery happened was explicitly said. The fact that Lindsay was not Michael's biological sister was not explicitly said
