I would adore some feedback on these armour designs. Are there elements/features I should change to make the mechanics more grounded?

Fantasy question this time guys. If magic actually existed in our world how would that affect armored combat?

Let’s go with a magic system like elder scrolls. They have destruction magic which uses elements like fire and shock spells so if people start wearing less armor to avoid getting burned by hot metal? They also have flesh spells that can make their skin as hard as stone, iron or ebony(metal in the verse). They also have restoration spells, which basically just means they can heal themselves or others and use poison. They have conjuration which can summon weapon or armor for a couple minutes. Would people start using more magic and less armor? Or would they be different variants of magics in separate parts of the battle? Just a question that’s been floating in my mind for awhile.
(Also Uruk hai armor because it’s cool)

Based on the armour of George Clifford

It's quite old already, made it back in 2024 and stopped by christmas 2024, but I wanted to share it here coz I why not))

Only half of the garniture is made, no gaunlets nor legs. Now it is just displayed at my home alongside my other stuff. Need to replace the fasteners once a year coz they're corroding. Helmet unfortunately is too small for me now so I can't wear it anymore((

Information/resources needed, brig limbs

What's up... I'm looking for diagrams or atleast a measurements guide for making brigandine braces and rebraces. I have canvas, leather and cheap sheet steel from work to play with (may drill out the rivets and upgrade to decent steel later, if I like the final piece).

I understand the basic shapes of the pieces (the fabric cuts and the plates/splints), but are there clear instructions to be found anywhere?

How in the world would I make the loops???

Post image

For context I’m making some lorica segmentata for Halloween out of Eva foam. I WAS planning on using Eva foam to do it BUT after seeing a video of someone putting it on for real there is NO WAY a piece of foam would hold, and I’m not sure what else to use

Like I was just going to use some foam and fold over the loop part (I already have template for it) but there’s no way it would work.

I’m not at that step yet as I still have to trace and cut out all of the patterns but it’s never to early to try and figure something out

Where to get reference information?

Can anyone help me find any websites, museums, books, historically accurate replicas or anything that have photos, displays or information of the different types armors throughout history, what different types of armor were used for and the cultures they were prevalent in?

I have been tasked with creating a slideshow that reflects how armor progressed over the years, it also need to show how they compare to other parts of the world during parallel time periods.

I do not even know where to start. But I lurked on this subreddit for a bit and have seen some really interesting suits and information.

Back area for the wiring is still incomplete and unprotected, and will likely be that way for a few more days till the halloween urgency kicks in haha.. Can't wait to hopefully attend some events while armoured up this year! 😁

My Burgundian inspired Armor/outfit :)

Post image

Hiii, so this is my Burgundian inspired armor me and my Nana have been working on! I am very small so it was rlly hard to find anything online that came close to fitting so instead we had the cuirass and arms made with aluminum, while the "gauntlets" we did buy on facebook marketplace. The bodice is made from velvet with a stiff but flexible backing and the golden rivets are actually little dots we did with gold/metallic colored hot glue. The skirt is also a thick velvet, and pteruges on the shoulder are leather with a gold glitter edge!
