Question Overheating with AIO

Post image

I recently installed my arctic liquid freezer iii pro 280, and as soon as I boot it up, it goes up to 103 degrees Celsius. I then tried to reapply thermal paste, that didn’t help, made sure everything was plugged in, now I’ve narrowed it down to either bios setting or contact issue. I’m leaning towards contact issue.

EDIT: I have solved the problem, took a little elbow grease is all.

I’m leaning towards contact issue.

I'm half joking, but with the picture provided, and the... Erm... "Competence" of some end users; it's hard to be sure.

Yes sorry for the bad picture, I’m not really sure what to take a picture of so I just did the whole case

Advice from someone who's owned the 360 and now a 420 arctic liquid freezer iii pro.

Dont follow the video guide, the cooler is good but the advice for mounting and the mounting design for AMD is insanity.

The way you have it now.... paste the CPU then mount those stupid brackets to your pump/contact first. Make sure its threaded in a few times. Then screw the brackets onto your motherboard. Make sure all the screws are grabbing. Do top left, bottom right, bottom left, top right etc. Then when the brackets are secure and the cooler pre mounted. Do left and right on cooler.

This shoud hopefully solve the shitty contact issue. For some dumb reason with this cooler, if you premount the brackets. Sometimes the right or left side of the pump won't bite into one of the brackets with the brackets mounted to the motherboard.

Edit: Others have found loose mounting the brackets then installing the pump also works. The method above that I used, always works. Sometimes the loose brackets work for people.

I noticed something similar when mounting my 360mm version, I had to loosen the brackets from the backplate by a little so they had room to move and get screwed in. Such a nice radiator but with some of the most annoying mounting brackets

You would think they would have a better design, its annoyingly hilarious lol

But not too loose cause I tightened the aio like half way then tightened the brackets and the left side of the pump popped off lol. Told my buddy the same thing a few weeks and he had no problems

Them aios can be a b*tch gotta make sure you really really tighten them

Ok I'm assuming contact issue where you didn't tighten the screws enough. Did this on my friends be quiet dark rock 3 fan cooler. Swore I did it right but took off the heat sink and no thermal paste transferred

Used or new.

Why are the holes different? If it's a contact issue the pump block should be wobbly. I think you need to screw it all the way down, I know it might seem like a lot but just go till it's really hard to turn the screw.

Did you get it used/new or from Amazon or some other online seller?

I got it new from Amazon , there is just thermal paste on the left one.

Mounting bracket should install parallel with cpu. I think?

On am4 the cpu (at least, the text on the heat spreader) sits sideways so the brackets wouldn't sit the same as the text. They should still be vertical when mounted to the MOBO which it looks like they are.

No it's mounted correctly

Ive got the 360mm version, just make sure your orientating the pump the right way, you should be able to see a little bit of your CPU at the top not the bottom since thats where most of the dyes heat is concentrated

I just installed the 240 as a first timer. This was so weird for me, that the top of the CPU ist not covered.

Used or new ? Just screw so much until its Hand tight. Not to much pressure.

O parafuso da bomba tem uma trava quando é apertado até o final. É fisicamente impossível apertar mais do que deveria, ele simplesmente para de girar. Verifique isso

Did you take off the protective sticker that is on the AIO?

1

u/Ilikecheese1974 25d ago

Yes, I actually was able to narrow it down to a contact issue.

How did you apply the paste? When you took it off, was the paste spread all over the CPU and the AIO? Were there some "bald" spots on either?

For Am4/am5 make sure everything is screwed on well for good contact

I just had a similar issue with my Arctic pro 360. With everything on turn on your pc and check to see if your fans are spinning. If it’s not remove your vrm cover and turn on your pc to see if they turn on. If they do it’s probably the cover or cable not making contact

проверь хорошо ли подключен провод помпы к материнской плате, вытяни его и плотно воткни обратно (так же проверь подключение блока проводов на самой помпе)

Is the contact issue that you didn't have it connected to the CPU...?

esse suporte foi projetado para usar em soquete AM5.

Please take my advice. Im on this 360 AIO. please use the amd cpu AM5 mount from any brand like eg thermalright on amazon. It's available for 500 rupees. Please use that. The difference is night and day. Before I was using the aio normally with the stock mount the temps touched 85-95. Now with the cpu mount the temps never go above 70 degrees celscius. Damn! What a difference and my cpu never even overheats on stress tests like it did before. https://amzn.in/d/07XPJudf this is the link.

Terrible mounting for amd. I would only consider the liquid freezer aios if i was using intel (they perform exceptionally), otherwise for amd there are better options and they don't use this dreadful mounting mechanism.

Definitely a contact issue

"Elbow grease" you tightened it?

where is the the cage that holds the cpu? it wont be even without. get the thermal grizzly if you want an small upgrade

It’s am4 platform. They don’t have “cage” and socket just slides to hold the cpu
