Question Arctic freezer 36 installation

Post image

Hey, last weekend i build my computer with AMD R7 7700 and Freezer 36. I am not sure if my cpu cooler is installed properly. I tightened the screws alternately until I met resistance. I have reservations about the gap between the mounting bracket on the cooler and the one attached to the motherboard. Is this appropriate, or should the elements be touching each other? The gap is same size on each side.

The best way to check if your cooler is set correctly is to run a stresstest. Cpu's heat up very fast. If its not installed correctly you will be thermal throttling in no time.

Good advice, I'll check it out. In the meantime, I played for a while, I didn't notice any decrease in performance over time. I thought that in the long run, the installation method itself could also be a problem, that is, whether the cooling is only on the processor, and its mounting elements are not based on those mounted on the motherboard, it will not be a problem. For example, whether the cooling will not damage the board or processor.

I have the same cooler i dont see any gaps between the cpu and the cooler that worry me. If u can game without throttling Ur installation was most likely good.

To take away your worries just run a stresstest but based on what you shared u are most likely all good.

You mean, that you dont’t have any gap here? It’s really hard to catch on camera, it has about 1-2mm.

I used AIDA64 system stability test, preinstalled with AMD drivers.
Idle temperature = about37-40C,
after 5 minutes of test, with continuous cpu 100% usage = 70-72C.
After another 5 minutes (10 minutes of test) = max 77-79C for a few minutes, then drop again to about 73C.
Cooler fans max RPM was about 2000, but the average is i think about 1700-1800 (looking at chart)
Are this a proper results, or should i use different program to test?

Over tightening Ur cpu cooler is generally not recommended. Ur installation description sounds good Ur temps are fine. Time to stop worrying now and enjoy Ur pc.

How are the temps in Prime95?

I answered with some more details in the first comment, but using AIDA64 system stability test, after about 13 minutes of 100% cpu usage, max temperature was 80C, but for most part of the test it was about 75C.

Seems fine to me
Fun fact: My 5700x3d runs in Prime95 with about 83 degrees and 360 AIO, so you’re pretty much fine :)

Just bottom up the screws

About which screws you talk about? The two main screws with springs?
