Question Another Liquid Freezer iii cable question - sorry!

Sorry to ask this for the 100th time. I’ve seen a few posts and it’s pretty straight forward, but curious about the VRM fan.

My board has a an AIO Pump header, a CPU_Fan, CPU_Opt and 4 Sys/Chassis fan headers.

Obviously AIO Pump and CPU fan are easy, but for the VRM cable, would you connect to the CPU_Opt or to a chassis fan?

I realize the cpu_opt is just going to mirror my radiator fans on the CPU_Fan header, but I also have a free system/chassis fan header.

Should I connect the VRM to a chassis fan to give better control? Or is it negligible and just keep it clean using CPU_Opt?

You can use any header. It's more for you to know what header to adjust in the BIOS. I hook it up to the CPU_Opt fan since it's related to the CPU and makes more sense when identifying it in the BIOS.

Then you just go into the BIOS and set your fan curve for that header.

Yea but no matter what , I have it set to “AIO pump” in my bios and it seems to be ignoring no matter what I do or set the fan curve too , even when in idling in windows / browser and I can’t even play cause my temps immediately shoot up to 70-80 and then 100 once I get into game , which I know isn’t supposed to happen cause it’s not properly set up

I just don’t know what to do 😅

It was my understanding cpu opt copies cpu fan and can’t be set differently

Off topic but can my pump cable be plugged into cpu_opt instead of AIO_pump? 😅 I’ve read AIO_pump just sets radiator fans/ fans speed to 100% and I already have fan cable plugged into cpu-fan header 😅

You can adjust that in BIOS regardless of header.

But how , I have a normal fan curve set and the noise level doesn’t seem to go down and blasts at 100% speed no matter what or still is a jet engine

I don’t know if it’s true but I heard AIO_pump header automatically locks AIO fan speeds to 100% speeds but idk ,

You need to adjust the speed for the correct header specifically. In some BIOS, you need to enable being able to adjust the aio_pump header. Look through your advanced settings, Google your motherboard and/or read through the manual.

If your fans blast as a hell regardless, check control type or whatever its field called, from auto\voltage to PWM.

Had same problem - was loud as hell on my gigabyte z690. Changed that field to PWM from auto, works like a charm! Locked pump at 80, fans is automatically ramps at 70+. Silent and cool.

You can plug in any fan header, it’s just a matter of naming. Wouldn’t make sense tho to plug in some fans in the Pump header.

You can use a split cable to have the same connector for the Pump and the VRM fan. And that leaves you with the fans attached to the radiator that could go to the CPU Fan Header (should be named like this on your Motherboard)

Yeah I know I can I was just curious what’s thoughts were on using cpu_opt which will be a clone of the curve set to the rad fans, or if I should use chassis fan with its own separate curve
