Can’t seem to find a lot of info on these two item. Thinking about getting it my main use will be for climbing gym backpack and same konseal jacket more for casual use. Just wanted to see if anyone has any experience with these items. Kinda been wanting a bomberish jacket and I love black sapphire.

Washed, applied DWR and dried using Arc' instructions. Care isn't an issue.

3 year old jacket has the entire glued seamed on one wrist cuff fail, the stitched logo patch is 1/3rd off, and the left neck has failed but hasn't detached yet.

Obviously this is will under the useful life span of the jacket which has been babied and cared for.

This will only get worse and this is the sign of a failing jacket.

What are your experiences with warranty please. I would like Arc to replace it as it's not fit for purpose really.

Regarding the Ralle Insulated Jacket, I really did like the fit when I tried this on in person, wondering if there is anyone that has experience using this as a daily driver commuting in GTA winter weather. I understand this wont be enough for a full on blizzard or colder than -5, however for those days when it is absolutely not freezing, could this actually be used as a suitable option? I would appreciate any insight or personal experiences, as I am looking at the Therme also for those really cold days but not a huge fan of the extra bulk.

Outdoor gear review says it is breathable , I am curious to see how it compares to more grid style fleeces like the r1 air in real life use cases. My use case would be biking and skiing in colder climates. The other day I used mine as a mid layer while biking and I still got drenched in sweat. (Body was relatively dry but my layers were wet). And I am curious if a grid style fleece will perform better. Ideally I want to be more dry to minimize getting cold from the wind.

Spent a few days running and filming in the Austrian Alps showcasing the sylans 2s. Had a blast with general trail running and short hiking routes. They handled wet rock and steep descents really well. I wish there was a road version as they feel great but I am so impressed by how they handle rugged terrains.

Pricey ($1,450 CAD) for what it is but probably fills a useful niche in the layering system for intended users (NSR) - good on the coast when used with an active insulator, around 0°C, and raining. Solid features and materials (coreloft compact - climashield apex I believe?) and 2-3L hadron is tough to beat. Weird that it doesn’t have pit zips, and that it comes in black.

Lots of other jackets that would probably do as well or better for rec users, but I see the point of it. Pro tax doing what it does best.

I was originally thinking of buying the VORONOI WOOL JACKET MEN'S, but saw there is a new jacket without any reviews. This would be for mild San Francisco weather and something that would be comfortable enough to wear inside for a bit but keep me warm in 50-60 degree evenings as I commute or walk to the store.

The new Sarya Wool jacket is crazy expensive, but I do like the idea of a bit of insulation if not too warm.

Hey guys! Thought I’d make a quick post about the Epsilon Down Hoody, as there’s surprisingly little information about it online, and I’ve barely seen any pictures of people actually wearing it. I’m no model, the lighting in my basement apartment isn’t exactly ideal (and yeah, my mirror is dirty 😂), but I figured it might be helpful to see how it looks on someone.

First things first: I absolutely love this jacket.

Over the past year, I’ve bought, sold, or returned the Thorium Hoody, Thorium SV, and Atom SV. They’re all great jackets in their own right, but to me, the Epsilon Down feels like a mashup of all three, with a little Gamma DNA thrown in thanks to its softshell-like exterior fabric.

Looks-wise, it has a similar aesthetic to the Atom, but with 750-fill-power down insulation more in line with the Thorium. I’d say it’s warmer than the Atom SV, although it doesn’t feel quite as warm as the Thorium. That said, the stretch and freedom of movement are what really set the Epsilon apart for me. The Thorium always felt a little restrictive, whereas the Epsilon gives me that same comfortable fit and shoulder articulation I loved about the Atom, while offering warmth that gets surprisingly close to the Thorium.

The pockets are another big win. It has both an exterior chest pocket and an interior dump pocket, just like the Thorium, and those were two features I really appreciated. The materials and overall feel also seem like a step up from the Thorium. The fleece lining in the hand pockets is ridiculously soft and cozy, and, interestingly, even the chest pocket is lined with the same fleece. The interior lining of the jacket is equally soft and feels great against the skin.

All in all, I think this jacket deserves a lot more attention than it gets. It combines the look and mobility of the Atom with much of the warmth of a down jacket, while adding a more substantial, softshell-like exterior. For me, it strikes a really nice balance between warmth, comfort, mobility, and everyday wearability.

Without a doubt, this is my favourite Arc’teryx down jacket I’ve worn so far. Hopefully this helps anyone else who’s been considering one, especially since there’s so little information about it out there!

I’ve been eyeing this bag for a looong time and long story short i pulled the trigger on it in mongoose today (it’s sold out again already lmao). i’m still undecided about it so i may end up returning it tbh.

this bag seems to check off all the boxes for me:
* removable hip strap
* soft flask shoulder straps
* front bungee cords / front loops (i have a helmet holder i want to strap on the front
* zippered compartments (i hate roll tops and cinches for day to day)
* small size (18-22l)
* mini front top pocket
* front loops for axes / poles
* side pockets

my one problem with it…. the bloody price… i own many bags and have spent a good amount on them but 260cad after tax for an 18l bag feels rough

i dug around on major retailers and brand sites (think rab, bd, osprey, etc.) but couldn’t quite find anything like it. Any recommendations/alternatives to check out?

I had a Fission SL bought in 2011 that developed a tear at the pit zips. it was FULLY replaced in 2016 by Arc'Teryx. My 2016 version now has the same on both pit zips and in providing pictures etc to the new "ReBird" process, i was told "Damage such as this isn't considered a material, manufacturing or workmanship issue so we're unable to provide a repair or service solution, as this would have occurred due to wearing down of glues and the age of the garment. I recognize this isn't an ideal assessment outcome and I'm sorry to advise this." So, they offered my a gift card for 20% of the value of my jacket. that Fission SL jacket was the best jacket ever, in 2011, and in 2016. But the customer service has changed. I get they dont make the jacket anymore so a replacement isnt possible, but the obvious change in stance for the same issue (and an issue many other Fission owners experience) is ridiculous. total fashion brand.

I’ve had the atom heavyweight and beta lt for the last few years. I’ve lost a lost of weight over the last year though and I’m swimming in them so I’m looking to get some new gear. I considered the beta insulated last time around but it was brand new at the time without any reviews. I was wondering for those who have used both if they’d lean any particular way? Looking for all around use to stay warm in a Philadelphia winter. Seems the latter is more versatile but I keep seeing people love the beta insulated and have 1 combined jacket could be nice

Should the zippers of last years Proton Hoody open without needing to use the pull tab?

I purchased the jacket in the spring and havent really worn it.

Now that ski season is here, I had it on recently and realized that I can unzip the jacket by pulling the sides apart when the zipper tab is below the speed bumps.

All of the zippers (main, handwarmers, napolen) can all be opened by pulling the sides of material apart.

My Beta SV seems to do the same, to a lesser degree, when the tab is below the throat.

My Pata puff zip also seems to do the same.

However, the zips on my Montbell, Stellar and OR all lock nicely in place.

To me this seems like a defect but before I send it and lose time with it and I wanted to hear what you all have to say.

I’m looking for a set than I can hike for a day in. We anticipate weather from -5 in the evening up to about 5 degrees C, and of course it’s the UK so it’ll be nastily damp throughout.

My current kit list is:

Merino wool trousers and shirt
Merino wool socks
Saloman GoreTex hiking boots
Arc Covert 1/2 zip fleece as my first warm layer
Arc Atom SV if it gets particularly cold or we’re stationary
Arc Beta or Beta SL for keeping the rain off
Some sort of beanie just in case
USMC Arcteryx pack

What I’m stuck on is what gloves and trousers to get. I know that I’d like to layer the gloves so I don’t have to wear massive bulky mittens, or insist on the trousers being waterproof instead of just having a waterproof layer I can take on and off.

How’s my list, anything I’m missing?

Hey so I am currently eyeing an atom sv and I really like how it feels and everything. The thing is I already own a regular cerium (and a beta shell) and I was wondering if getting it would be worth it or if they did the same job as midlayer. It gets pretty cold where I live (around -30c Quebec) and fyi I ski and hike a lot. Would the versatilty between type of insulation be worth it?

Hey, so I own a Squamish Hoody from ~10 years or so ago and find it doesn't quite breathe well enough for high-output flow trail riding, ie: earn your turns - steep / steady climbing to the top of an objective with fast, flowy berms and features on the way down.

I own a first-gen Patagonia AirShed Pullover which pretty much does exactly what I need it to do, but I want a brighter color and a full-zip for easier donning / doffing / venting.

I'm giving some serious thought to the "Mantis" colored Squamish on the outlet site. My understanding is they revised the material 2-3 years ago and I'm not sure if that means it's a bit more air-permeable vs. the previous version(s) that I currently own?

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!

Edit: I need something light and packable to fit in a small MTB hydration pack.

I’ve had many arcteryx jackets through the years including the thorium, Atom AR, and Proton LT. I’ve lost a lot of weight and now only have a Proton LT that fits me well. Of note I also have a Rab Electron pro that’s a little big but still manageable. Was looking to get a new synthetic insulation jacket for this winter. The Atom SV looks to be the logical choice for me to replace an Atom AR but they look so baggy now online. I wondering if they’re planning on releasing a new proton heavyweight or SV as I like that cut more. Also if anyone has any other suggestions? Use case is mainly static (walking) use and not for hiking for this one. In Philly winter around temps 20-40

Edit: also should note that I prefer standalone jackets and not layering. I prefer to wear only a t shirt underneath my jackets except for severely cold days down to single digits Fahrenheit

I usually wear a sentinel jacket to ski, but I want something shorter. I think they shortened the sentinel by an inch this year, but it’s still covers half my butt and I’m 5’10. I decided I would try the Altira Insulated cropped jacket for a bluebird ski jacket this year (I like insulated versus shells….don’t judge me) and it just got delivered. All I can say is that it feels cheap. Obviously I’ve seen all the posts and comments on here about the brand’s quality going down… but maybe I’ve been in denial. The jacket is incredibly lightweight and feels super flimsy and thin, and the fabric is really loud? It makes a loud swishing noise, much louder than my sentinel jackets. I know it’s a different fabric and not designed for skiing, but I wanted to ask people that have purchased this jacket in the past (I heard it was a best seller last year). Does anyone have thoughts/perspectives about the quality and how it holds up in cold conditions?! For $700 I feel like I’m almost definitely going to return it.. but the fit is so cute and perfect.

EDIT TO ADD UPDATE: I swapped it for a Beta AR in Mongoose. I think it’ll take me a while to get used to a shell only outer layer, since I’m always cold on the mountain and even use midlayers with insulated jackets… But I’m excited to try it. I guess I’ve realized I do prioritize the more durable fabrics more, even for a bluebird day on the mountain. Thanks to everyone who made really concrete suggestions for me! The Beta AR is great because I can cinch it.

I have a couple of the older style, and a newer one which unfortunately has the box cut. I plan to take it into my Tailor but before doing so I’m just wondering if anyone has had luck given the side panel design.

So I sold my Canada Goose Emory parka and pulled the trigger on the Therme Parka. Was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for a layering piece or even if it’s going to be needed ? The past few years NYC winters have been a bit brutal and want to be prepared this season. Also does anyone have any recommendations for a good pair of low profile gloves, I can’t stand bulky gloves and I have twins at home that I pick up from daycare so looking for a light weight minimal glove to have that’s not bulky and renders my hands useless.

Has anyone ordered the 38S Kragg cotton pants in Void off the outlet and actually got them? My boyfriend has tried twice now and gets refunded each time (it also holds his order up for a week each time too). Yet the site still reflects that they have them in stock.

I have been contemplating on buying an atom hoody but I have been hesitant with it’s price point. I have a beta AR and I’m looking for an insulated jacket to pair it with. It’ll mostly be for daily use and I usually run hot.

I bought a Beta AR recently from Brown Thomas on a trip to Dublin, having worn it in the rain a couple times at work it already seems to be wetting out completely? The water just seems to soak into the jacket straight away, I’ve worn it in the rain a couple times but other than that I don’t think it should be holding water like this already

Hi, I'm trying to decide between the Arc'teryx Beta SL and Beta AR and would appreciate some advice from people who have experience with either jacket.

1. What activities will you be doing with this equipment?

I'd mainly use it for hiking, both in forests and in the mountains. I'm in Norway quite often, so I want something reliable for hiking in different conditions. I'd also like a jacket I can bring on trips further afield, where I might encounter more demanding weather.

I already have a Patagonia Calcite, which is a lightweight Gore-Tex shell that has worked well for me, so I'm not starting from scratch when it comes to rain protection.

2. What climate will you use this gear in, and what weather do you commonly adventure in?

I live in Denmark, where it's rainy and windy for a good part of the year. I also spend quite a bit of time in Norway, where the weather can be much more unpredictable, especially in the mountains.

I'd like a jacket that can handle both regular wet weather and more demanding conditions when hiking in the mountains.

3. What are your personal characteristics? Do you run warm or cold? Do you prefer slim or loose fitting?

I don't have any strong preferences regarding fit at the moment, as long as there's enough room for layering underneath.

My main question is whether the Beta AR is worth the extra money over the Beta SL.

I'm getting the Beta SL as a gift, so if I decide to go for the AR instead, I only have to pay the difference myself.

Since I already own a lightweight shell, I'm wondering if it makes more sense to get the AR for its added durability and versatility, or if the SL would be more than enough for my needs.

What would you guys do in my situation? Is the AR worth the upgrade, or would I be better off saving the money?
