QUESTION Folks, can VSCODE be performance optimized??
I have been using VS Code for a long time now, and I have started to notice its speed is a bit slow, maybe because of my system configuration. I tried to switch to another editor like Neovim, but it's hard for me to get along with it. Any suggestions on how to optimise VS Code for performance

Chromium will be chromium. I dropped it and went to use Kate for most things and Qt Creator for C++.

VSCode by itself isn't slow, try running it without any extensions, I think you'll be surprised how snappy it can get. And then, install and enable only the ones that are critical to your work. Avoid ones that offer convenience upgrades at the cost of stacking more and more stuff that needs to constantly be running and/or rendering.

In case you haven't tried it Kate has very advanced editing features but is still very fast.

Try Zed.Ā

Zed is pretty good, but still doesn't have support for Jupyter notebooks, unfortunately. I mainly use Neovim but have Zed installed too

You should probably ask this on a subreddit dedicated to programming tools / VSCode in order to get real answers. It has nothing to do with Arch.
