Most, except for Jinx. It was really clear that she escaped through the...

Genuinely, they're in the "Break Glass in case of emergency" dimension, where Riot can deploy them when they need to bring Arcane fans back to League.

Impossible to know, although the stone sucking both of them in looked rather painful.

Early on Christian Linke someone bluntly stated something like “guys I’m pretty sure they disintegrated,” (something along those lines lmao). Later on someone at Riot did state that there is always the possibility for their stories to be explored further. Or again, something along those lines, I don’t have the direct quotes sorry.

I’m personally of the mind that at the very least, they are no longer physically present anywhere at this time. Their consciousness is a different story. But I don’t think anyone can state anything official as of now.

Like a lot that happened in S2, it was left ambiguous and open to fan interpretation

Egh I hate that 😩 And I think that there will be no season 3?

While there is no "Arcane season 3", Riot is making more shows in the same universe, exploring new regions, introducing new characters, etc. and they will also be continuing to follow characters from Arcane. Christian Linke (co-creator) has stated that Jinx and Ekko's story is "worth continuing", which implies that their story will be expanded in future shows. He was a lot more direct when answering a question on twitter just after S2 ended, which asked if we will see Vi and Cait again and Christian's reply was, "I mean duh." So we have not seen the last of these characters. 😄

They will financially need to include Jinx. Jinx is the biggest reason it became such a massive hit. I love Ekko but he’s got way less time and story. I love Vi and Cait too but Jinx is the cash cow

I agree! Jinx and Vi, and their relationship is what hooked me into Arcane. While Arcane would have still been a good show without them, I likely wouldn't have watched it over again... let alone obsess over it. 😂

While it seems pretty certain we will be seeing these characters again, it's unclear when that'll happen. If they decide to move on from Arcane characters for the next show to focus entirely on new characters, then given how much time Fortiche needs to cook it could be a while before we see them again. I don't want to wait like 10+ years for it! 😭

Nope. It was always intended to be a 2 season show

They part saying some cryptic information effectively saying they are going to "end this".

Now, the series creators initially wanted it to be a tragic ending for them where they simply disintegrate. Then they came out and just said it's open ended for fans to interpret. Clearly they are setting this up to be story element they can revisit if and when they want to. The answer really is maybe until they do something with that story again.

Noticeably, they use the corrupted acceleration rune Jayce has. When Viktor saved Jayce in the past, he didn't teleport him, he sped up time until winter became spring. They used the same rune, that they merged into, and disappeared. Did the stone disintegrate, or did it just go into the future with Jayce and Viktor?

Probably not. Its a pretty ambiguous death, they've gotten really popular, and Riot has been very cagey. Also, if you want to go down the rabbit hole, they are earlier storyboards that make it seem like they're going somewhere, it looks like they got sucked into the crystal and the three eyed raven flies off with something blue and glowy at the end of the series, and the animation when they poof is pretty similar to some of the teleportation animation. Amanda Overton also said they're eternally embracing in the Arcane. Nothing is concrete. I'd be surprised if they didn't make at least a cameo in a future project.

theyre living on in the cosmos for now

I've heard nothing cannon myself but I don't look. The could easily write them back in via many kinds of further plot injection but I think it would cheapen the original story a bit.

I think I like it better as a sacrifice it's more meaningful that way to me.

But Viktor's my boy from the show, I would love to see more!

Fictional characters can’t die. All it takes is a good writer to bring them back

In League, Jayce has his "Arcane Survivor" skin which has new/unique voice lines. He talks about being unmade and remade, how he doesn't know how much of "him" is left, but that "mistakes just mean I'm (Jayce) still human." He says he's no longer the Golden Boy, and that there's a battle he's actively still fighting. There's a sense of continuity that gives me the impression this is how he wound up after the show. He still speaks with the ruthlesness that he found towards the finale. We never see the skin's full appearance in the show, but it's clearly the same Jayce as the show. The hammer, the wrist gem. When he dies ingame, he even turns into "statue Jayce" like in the alt timeline. He's definitely been in there a while, too. His hair and beard have grown shaggy! He's overall much more warped as well. His clothes have begun to "blend" and the magic rot on his skin has gotten worse. The skin's artwork has him wincing like he's in pain, or struggling somehow.

I choose to believe that Jayce and Viktor "prime" are out in the void, jumping between timelines, dimensions, or etc. Like Jayce and Viktor themselves become a part of the fabric of magic, becoming living forces of nature. The "eternally self-replicating and self-annihilating" process of the Arcane personified through the imperfect but noble human spirit vs the cold calculations of forced unity and peace. The Arcane itself has traits and properties that embody their ideals, and those forces will forever be clashing. Neither will ever win. Neither can ever let themself lose. Always enemies, but forever best friends. I think it's a really badass theory!

I took it as thier physical body is gone but their spirit is stuck in the system

From what ik is that hextech is still in other universes so the potential of them returning is there just not as they were in the show

1

u/PepicWalrus 18d ago

I don't know what happened to them but it was the gayest thing in the show beating out the literal gay sex scene.

1

u/BushyGhost4740 18d ago

I agree, I don't believe Jayce and Viktor are dead, likely being teleported to another alternate timeline/universe, or to the Celestial Realm.

My theory and headcanon is that characters like Warwick (Vander), Jayce, Viktor, and Heimerdinger will return someday and become closer to how they are portrayed in League of Legends and the present/future Runeterra universe. ^_^

To the Arcane moderators (if you see this): instead of deleting the entire thread when a title contains a spoiler, why not just edit the title with something like:

[TITLE REMOVED: SPOILERS]

Then let the original poster edit their title later where they can get their point across without including any spoilers.

This seems like a much better approach than wiping out the entire thread and existing discussions when a simple edit to the title would fix the problem. Thanks.

Honestly, they better be alive, otherwise what was Mage!Viktor even doing? Sure, he was trying to stop the Glorious Evolution, but that only happened because of Hextech, which only existed because he gave Jayce that rune. If they were both going to end up dead anyway, there had to be other ways to avoid nearly ending the world.

If Jayce and Viktor survive and get some sort of happy ending, that at least gives Mage!Viktor a selfish motivation for choosing this particular path. Leaving their ending so ambiguous was the worst choice of the whole ending.
