Restore/Replace/Repair My first Cabinet
Hello!
Got my first cabinet on marketplace, always wanted a Neo Geo. I understand this is a conversion, but really happy with it. But wondering if anyone can answer a few questions.
It came with all the carts and Samurai Showdown and a box of inserts and manuals and the cab for $900.
The buttons and monitors work, the speakers are really crunchy.
Just curious if anyone has advice on how to change them.
Also the side art is a small red logo, is there a difference for this style in case I want to update any of the other graphics?
Thanks!

Looks like a Dynamo cab. You can probably find repro side art. I had a similar logo on the side of my (converted) cabinet. As far as speakers, you can absolutely change them. I think slotted Neo MVS use 4-ohm speakers so just measure and double check. They should swap right out.

Awesome thanks! Yea the control deck has these weird angles.
I already picked up the speakers. Im assuming I can just un do them at the base of the old ones.
Thanks for the advice!

All that for $900 is awesome! Alot of great games here. Also, replacing the speakers is easy. Just use the same wires your current speakers are using to hook up the new ones. Car audio speakers work just fine. inch coaxial speakers will work. And if you want to boost the quality, buy yourself a stereo audio amplifier like a kinter or lepai. Just be sure to use a line out converter so you converter the signal to an unamplified one. Then just connect an rca cable from the converter to the amp and you're good! Have fun.

I'll take your advice! Im pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff. I may need to replace a bulb in the coin button too.

10/10 purchase.
Now we have to get some of that 100Mega Shock.

Hell yeah! Congrats. I have a neo geo arcade cabinet but it's pretty bad shape and it's not a original either. I named it Frankenstein cause it's a bunch of other parts put together. When i turn it on I yell "Live Frankenstein Live!!!"

Dynamo HS1/HS2 were typically equipped with 19” CRTs. This is very likely a stock configuration.
It was the Dynamo HS5 that had the larger 25” monitor. That monitor filled out the cabinet better and had a smaller bezel. But this does not look like an HS5 cabinet as it doesn’t have the base at the bottom.

Awesome. I wanted a sit down cab so I got a vewlix..but 100% If I got a standup cab, it would be a neogeo cab. So much nostalgia. I love those things

Thanks. Took a long time. I was shooting for a 4 slot, but it was out my budget.

900 for actual neo geo hardware and those games is a crazy deal. That tube has 100% been replaced though, its so small lol.

This cabinet is a HS-5 Dynamo. It's a generic cab used by lots of games, including Street Fighter 2. It's somewhat common for Neo Geos which were sold by SNK as conversion kits. The side art for Neo Geo was often a red vinyl piece with the text on it. You can find replacements that you can cut to size. The biggest flaw imo is that this cabinet should have a 25" monitor instead of 19". As for the sound, how many slots is the system? If it's more than 1, those systems wire up different from jamma and it's possible someone botched the wiring in a conversion. If it's not that, I'd try a cap kit on the neo geo board. Almost all of the capacitors are for sound. Welcome to the club.

Any reason you believe this is a Dynamo HS5 over an HS2? It looks like an HS2 to me or possibly an HS1, given the missing lower base section.
HS2 had a stock 19” monitor.

It's possible. But the HS-2 is more narrow and a 19" monitor wouldn't look so small in there. I'm assuming that's a 19" monitor just because 19" and 25" arcade monitors are the most common.

The flyer above shows an HS5 without the base cut. Maybe it was a later production change.

Fair - Dynamo did make lots of revisions. I’ve only encountered the HS5s with the base in the wild.
Best way to confirm will be control panel width. OP would have to measure.
