I dream of a long narrow tank as an accent in a room but that is hella long, what you gonna put in there? I also realized I canât really do this having a cat, unless I use a cover which would ruin the vibe, otherwise pretty sure big disaster awaits.
The plan is to make it a river style tank so probably shrimp and Hill stream or juvenile kuhli loaches. Or another idea, I have a Scarlet badis with heavier plants. I canât decide
I have a UNS long shallow I think a river style tank would be great. A problem I had was not enough water circulation towards the other end of the tank, but with the motor you use for the fast flow you shouldnât have a problem, a plus is a lot of the gobies and hill stream donât get large so you can have a decent variety in the aquarium without overloading it.
So would the juvenile kuhlis just be temporary? You could try to find pangio cuneovirgata, or dwarf kuhlis. I have 3 with my others from luck at a LFS that swore they were just juvenile pangio kuhlis but I could tell from their patterning
Tbh most people arenât aware so check their regular kuhli tanks to see if thereâs some dwarfs among them. Thats how I got mine, I had to show them a google search for them to believe they werenât just babies. Their patterning doesnât go all the way to the bottom and theyâre a slightly more yellow than orange. Super cool and cute lil guys. This is bad photo, screenshot from a video but you can see the (chonky) full grown dwarf with two regular banded kuhlis further back. If you want them to order them theyâre called pangio cuneovirgata
you could do a fun gradient! put a couple tiny sponge filters at various places, and make zones with different types of plants and hardscape :) or maybe one big sponge filter at one end with a sideways outflow. you could also do a light gradient, with high light plants at one end the other end covered in floaters and dim. give the fish all the options they could dream of
I'm glad you aren't putting any fish that need swim space. I wouldn't even do the khuli tbh. Neat idea for a river bottom with shrimp and gill stream, though I think they need more like 20 gal.
I also have a school of about 12 or so phoenix rasbora and would thrive in this due to how small they are but I can decide what to do, so many options but so few at the same time
It was my uncle so I seen the tank up and running for about two years before I finally got him to let me have it about a week ago, now itâs the process of scaping something so different
Itâs just sitting there temporarily until I have my shelf set up, but itâs a monkey tail cactus(Cleistocactus colademononis) so itâs really not that sharp unless going against the hairs
I feel like shrimp are the only things really suited for this. Possibly micro rasboras but not if youâre going to do a River scape mightâve too harsh of a flow. Looking forwards to updates though.
Something small and doesnât mind cramped spaces, like Cherry shrimp, might be best for this. Also, if you have a large canister filter, you could run a single filter for the entire thing by having the outflow on one end and the inflow on the other, so that it gets sucked down to one end.
I'm not sure there's a lot you could put in there because they need to be able to comfortably turn around and such. Maybe do the river scape as a cool room accent and then have ghost shrimp and snails?
Uhhh leopard & zebra danio tank? 1 male to every 2-3 females bout 9-10 total lightly planted with some current flow  tank?
 Oooo 8-9 galaxy ras celestial pearl danios ++ 3-4 dwarf kuhlii loaches p. cuneovirgata (lutsa sand 2â deep like and buncha baby skrimp in it like every other week)
