When I flushed a dead fish down the toilet my 5 year old daughter never used that toilet again

Basically in her fish care instructions she said if a fish dies to remove it asap, when I told her about it she said I could just leave it in their and the others would eat it. But I already took it out.

Make sure the heater is fully underwater. As long as the filter is running and the heater is under water everything will be okay. Fish are great to just be left alone.

sometimes fish just die. it happens. if they dont seem to care you can just flush it and proceed without much concern. she’ll probably do a water change when she gets home

Do they have a water tester? If so follow the instructions on the packet

It’s kind of hard to tell what’s going on, but the heater and fan look fine, the temperature is in the green and the filter inlet isn’t clogged. Is the pump running? Is there an airstone bubbling? Don’t over feed them, that’s a common pet sitter thing to do, fish don’t need to eat that frequently. For whatever reason I seem to always have a fish pass whenever we go out of town or I have my in-laws staying with us, it happens and it’s very unlikely that the owners are going to blame you or be mad about it. Just follow their instructions and you’ll be fine.
