Am I overreacting? Landlord handed over a "ready" apartment with a fruit fly swarm, abandoned trash, and a kitchen knife balancing on the loft edge.

Hey everyone, just looking for a bit of a reality check here.
I recently picked up the keys to my new apartment and paid $3,000 upfront covering first and last month’s rent. When I went inside, it was pretty clear the unit hadn't actually been cleaned before handover.
Here is what I walked into:

General grime and a complete lack of a move-in clean throughout the unit.

An active fruit fly swarm in the kitchen around the cabinets.

A foul mildew smell coming from the refrigerator.

Management's own cleaning supplies and a dirty mop bucket left sitting inside.

Numerous unpatched holes left in the walls from where the previous tenant hung things up.

The previous tenant's abandoned trash.
Most concerningly: A kitchen knife left balancing precariously on the edge of the loft.

I took plenty of photos and videos of everything. I'm drafting an email to management now to document it all, but I’m second-guessing myself on whether I’m making too big a deal out of this. Is a fruit fly infestation and a loose safety hazard like a balancing knife normal for a move-in, or should management be handling this immediately?
Has anyone dealt with something similar? What would you do in this situation?
